So many restaurants to try at Disney Springs and so little time.
Sure, we all have our favorite places to visit when spending some time at Disney Springs, but if you want a truly unique experience (like dinner with a celebrity chef), there are some special events you’ve got to take advantage of. Luckily, if you’re totally torn or want to try out a few restaurants all at once, we may have the perfect event for you (and it’s not too pricey)!
We recently attended the Sip, Savor, and Stroll event held at Disney Springs. The event takes you to THREE Disney Springs restaurants, including Enzo’s Hideaway, The Edison, and Maria & Enzo’s. We’re gonna be honest. This was a SURPRISING event — it turned out to be quite a bargain!
This experience takes you through three notable restaurants found in Disney Springs: The Edison, Enzo’s Hideaway, and Maria & Enzo’s for a small plate and drinks to sample from each. The event is designed for all attendees to “drink, dine, and dash” their way from restaurant to restaurant as the perfect way to experience the best each restaurant has to offer. The event is held on select nights, and the event times are staggered from 4:30–8PM. You’ll need to purchase a ticket for the event in advance.
We first checked into The Edison, which is meant to evoke a 1920s steampunk vibe. When we arrived and checked in with the host, we were directed to a section of the restaurant that was cornered off for those attending the event. Here, we were treated to our first “sip and savor” offerings: the Sunny Disposition Porthole and The Edison’s sourdough grilled cheese, lemon-basil tomato soup shooter.
The Sunny Disposition Porthole is made of St. Augustine cane vodka, Lillet Blanc, Giffard Crème de Fraise des Bois, and local Florida produce.
This drink is pretty, but its real appeal here is the taste. To us, it was a perfect blend of citrus and floral tones. Although the vodka was a bit more forward in this one, it was very smooth. We thought this one sounded pretty familiar and when we asked our server about it, they confirmed this was the same drink featured from The Edison in last year’s Flavors From Florida offerings.
Then, it was time to turn our attention to our savory plate!
The grilled cheese was buttery and crisp on the outside but fluffy on the inside. It was already melted on the inside by the time it was served to us, which made it extra enjoyable.
The tomato soup is thick but juicy, and it’s like a warm hug on a cold day when you pair it with the grilled cheese. It was delicious and we were asking ourselves why we weren’t ordering it every time we ate here!
As soon as we were done with our dishes, we were escorted over to our next stop on this food adventure: Enzo’s Hideaway.
This restaurant is meant to be a secret speakeasy that serves Italian-inspired cuisine. And we were once again asked to take a seat in any of the available seating in our cornered-off area and a server would be around to us.
Here, we were treated to an Enzoni and a Saffron Arancini.
The Enzoni is made of Ford’s gin, muddled grapes, Campari, lemon juice, and simple syrup. And it was delightful! It’s a gin-based drink, but it’s dangerous because it tastes like sweet water. The added lemon juice gives it a nice zest and a bit of a sour taste, which was lovely but left a dry taste after you sipped it.
We actually had an opportunity to speak with Jeanie, who created the Enzoni drink, and she explained that she was looking for the best way to create a drink for those who aren’t typically gin drinkers to enjoy while keeping it a dry drink that would pair well with the plate. She intentionally added the grapes to give it that bit of sweetness, and we really think she achieved what she set out to accomplish with this drink.
The Saffron Arancini consists of fior di latte mozzarella and citrus-roasted garlic aioli. It looked so good when it was brought out to us, and we almost didn’t want to eat it (but we knew what had to be done)!
When we cut it open, the inside reminded us of risotto or sticky rice with a chewy cheese curd in the center. The outside is baked and has crisp edges that hold the form well.
As for how it tastes, aside from a wet rice consistency on the inside, there’s not much flavor, which was a bit disappointing. It really needed the help of the flavors from the garlic aioli to give it anything more than a bland flavor which just fell a little flat to our flavor-loving palettes. If you’re someone who enjoys garlicky, cheese foods, this totally could have been a grand slam in your book; it just didn’t quite strike us this way this time.
After we finished our second restaurant, it was time to head to the finale of our foodie tour — Maria and Enzo’s Ristorante!
For this experience, we were treated to the waterfront ambiance of the restaurant’s outdoor seating and once again asked to find a seat at any available spot. Here, our server treated us to a Blood Orange Mule and a Cannoli.
The Blood Orange Mule was made of Skyy blood orange vodka, Solerno blood orange liqueur, Fever-Tree blood orange ginger beer, and lime juice. This drink was very smooth! You really can taste the blood orange flavor in the drink without having to search for it, and the ginger beer almost mimics a mint flavor with a hint of carbonated soda if you’re not totally familiar with the taste. It was a great option for a last drink, which we really enjoyed, and the setting sun was a perfect atmosphere to enjoy this drink with friends.
So then it was time for the Cannoli! This dessert was made with sweet ricotta filling, candied orange, Amarena cherry, and chocolate chips.
It held its form nicely — until we tried to crack it open.
However, we didn’t let that get in the way of the taste. It truly was a journey tasting this cannoli. The candied orange and Amarena cherry were bright against the creamy ricotta. The cannoli was all the more sweetened with the added chocolate chips. Our only wish was that it was larger for a dessert because it was only about as long as your wrist to the end of your thumb.
Overall, we had a great time trying out some new dishes and sips during the Sip, Savor, and Stroll, and if you’re up for a unique but not time-consuming activity to do around Disney Springs for an afternoon, we really recommend giving this one a try! The drinks alone were a great portion and seemed to be a good size for the experience, and that in itself would have made up for every bit of $50 towards the ticketed cost. Pairing that with a few small plates and a dessert seemed like a great price to try out three restaurants you may not have tried out before in one swoop! Tickets to this event are $75 per person, and you must be over 21.
