When you’re at Disney World, how often do you start your day with a breakfast of champions?
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and if you’re at Disney World, there are options available to you. Maybe you grab a bite from your hotel’s cafeteria-style restaurant, or you make a reservation for a character breakfast at the park you’re going to. Speaking of the parks, not all are created equal when it comes to breakfast. Would it surprise you to know that if you want breakfast at EPCOT, you might not have the greatest options available?
EPCOT is really well known as THE Disney World park for foodies — so why is it so hard to find something to eat for breakfast?! If you’re interested in a character breakfast, you have the option of one of our favorite character meals in EPCOT — at Garden Grill in The Land Pavilion!
And if you want to meet princesses, you can have breakfast at Akershus in the Norway Pavilion.
But if you want a quick grab-and-go breakfast, you’re limited in your choices to a couple of places to get breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Many of the restaurants in EPCOT are only open for lunch and dinner. So,we wanted to find out what your thoughts were about the most memorable breakfasts you’ve had at EPCOT. We asked and boy, did you deliver!
We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask you to: “Tell us about the most memorable breakfast you’ve ever had in EPCOT!” The results were pretty varied. We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!
Now, we’re not going to rank these as 1, 2, or 3 as they were mentioned almost the same amount by you. So, let’s dive into the results!
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
At the top of our reader response pile is Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in the Norway Pavilion. This character breakfast is a dream come true for little princesses (and princes!), with opportunities to meet and greet several Disney royalty members. You consistently raved about your experiences, highlighting how special it made your little ones feel.
Here are a couple of examples you shared:
- “Taking my daughter (6 yo at the time) to see the princesses at Akershus! She was dressed as Belle and she was overjoyed at meeting all the beautiful princesses. It was really great.”
- “We finished breakfast and got in line for frozen. That was the year Frozen opened up. We only had to wait 5 minutes to get on Frozen. Also, the breakfast was delicious.”
- “Definitely princess breakfast at Akershus. A must for the little princesses in your life!”
- “Princess breakfast when my daughter was almost 2 years old, and then again this past January when she was almost 13.”
- “Akershus before park opening for breakfast. Then 20 minutes to meet the princesses from Frozen. And 20 minutes in line to ride Frozen. My daughter still talks about it”
- “The first time we took our daughter to Disney she was 5. We went to breakfast at Akershus and watching her experience all the princesses, and holding Belle’s hand when they did the princess parade through the restaurant was priceless. I’ll never forget it. Side note: when people say not to take little kids to Disney because they won’t remember it, I always say “but I will”. ❤️🖤💛”
Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie
Character breakfasts aside, if you find that a leisurely Parisian breakfast is more your style, then look no further than Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie in the France Pavilion. This bakery offers a selection of pastries, croissants, and quiches, perfect for grabbing a coffee and enjoying a relaxing start to your day overlooking the World Showcase Lagoon. You could not stop expressing just how delectable their morning options have been.
Here are a couple of examples you shared:
- “Without a doubt – my favorite breakfast at WDW (not just EPCOT) is quiche Lorraine and a coffee from Les Halles, enjoyed somewhere overlooking the lagoon with the sunshine on my face.”
- “Les Halles, is the best way to start an EPCOT day”
- “Anything from Les Halles!”
- “Ham and Cheese Croissant and a Coffee in France!”
- “Bakery in France last month. We got a bunch of things to try between us all and it allllll was amazing! By far favorite bakery we’ve ever ordered from anywhere!”
- “When I convinced my family to have breakfast in France. Best way to start our EPCOT day! We still talk about it.”
- “Sitting outside Les Halles, at the France Pavilion, enjoying coffees, Mimosas, pastries, and croissants, while people-watching! ❤️🇫🇷”
Garden Grill
The Garden Grill in The Land pavilion is a character dining experience featuring Mickey Mouse, Chip & Dale, Pluto, and Farmer Mickey. It consistently ranks highly for breakfast at EPCOT, with praise for both the delicious food and the entertaining character interactions.
Here are a couple of examples you shared:
- Garden grill before COVID! It was our first ever trip to Epcot and we were one of only two tables in the whole restaurant. The characters came round all the time, was hiding behind my husband then jumping out and the service was spot on. The food was so good, I wish they still did the cinnamon buns 🤤
- Garden Grill was delicious and the characters were amazing even for just a table of grown-ups!
- Easily the breakfasts with my kids at Garden Grill. Great ambiance and delicious food (the giant cinnamon roll was always a favorite)!
This comment wins as the best one:
- The day before Hurricane Irma hit we went to Garden Grill. We had a server we had met before (he worked at both Garden Grill and Tusker House), and since the place was basically empty, we got to chat with him for an extended time. It was GREAT! He made sure the characters did extra posing time with our family (all 3 girls were adults at this time, but still loved the characters) and the food was great, as always. And then, right after it reopened from the virus craziness, we went with our 3-year-old granddaughter. Even though the characters had to stay behind the upper wall, they still interacted with her and made it memorable. Pluto even played hide and seek with her! And, the server brought her a “birthday breakfast cupcake” and he said, “We aren’t allowed to sing the song because of Covid, but if you want I can just SAY it really quietly in rhythm…”. It was AWESOME! And it made our trips memorable both times!
Those were just some of your thoughts on some of the most memorable breakfasts you’ve ever had in EPCOT, and we’d love to find out more from you! Until then, keep it right here for all the latest Disney news!
