It’s been YEARS since we’ve walked through EPCOT unencumbered by construction walls and blocked pathways. The EPCOT Transformation has been a BIG deal for Disney, but the project has taken what feels like an ETERNITY to be completed. But good news! The end is in sight — we’re almost there, people.
Recently, Disney announced the opening date for one of the FINAL parts of the EPCOT Transformation. Mark your calendars! CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza will open on June 10th, 2024 in EPCOT!
As part of this grand opening, look out for a NEW meet-and-greet location! The Mickey and Friends character meet-and-greet location is part of CommuniCore Hall. This will be the official NEW place where you can meet some of your favorite Disney characters! Disney hasn’t commented on all the characters moving to this spot, but based on the name, we have a feeling you’ll find friends like Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto here.
This new area will open with the rest of CommuniCore Hall on June 10th. During a recent visit to EPCOT, we checked in on the status of the building.
Check it out! The “Mickey & Friends” sign finally ARRIVED in EPCOT. This confirms that Disney’s concept art is really coming to life just like it was planned! We’re also hoping this will clear up some confusion about where people can meet Mickey (and friends) in EPCOT.
You can also see a colorful new mural that spans the length of the walls. We see a Mickey ear, a Minnie bow, and Goofy’s head peeking out over the construction wall.
We’re one step closer to the big opening, and we can’t WAIT to see what it will look like inside. We’re hoping for some colorful Disney easter eggs and lots of nostalgic EPCOT nods. Anyone else?
Hi from EPCOT, where we’re seeing the FIRST sign up on the NEW Communicore Hall!
It reads ‘Mickey & Friends’ in the updated EPCOT lettering we see on the new signage throughout the park. pic.twitter.com/cAGF23ScZl

Additionally, Disney describes CommuniCore Hall as the first fully-purpose-built structure in festival programming, designed with flexibility in mind. This hall will be able to host a wide variety of experiences with food, art, live music, and more. Don’t worry, though — the area will be open year-round (not just during festivals).
We also know that CommuniCore Hall will “be surrounded by serene views and exciting experiences,” like that Mickey & friends character meet-and-greet we mentioned. Disney also previously said we’ll be able to enjoy a “beautiful mural of all things EPCOT past and present” with “a geometric exterior design inspired by Spaceship Earth, and of course, Mickey Mouse and his pals.”
Oh, and there’s more. A NEW Encanto show will debut at the CommuniCore Plaza stage. It’s called “¡Celebración Encanto!” and it will feature the iconic songs and stories from the movie.
As you can see, there’s a lot coming to Disney World this summer! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

So, is it your thought that all festival food booths will now be in this new area instead of spread out through the park? Also, do you think there will be additional tables & chairs there to enjoy all the festival foods? That is my biggest complaint during festivals is there there is very little table & chair seating available to enjoy all the festival foods.

SO, will there NOT be ANY Food Booths around the Countries Anymore? Also, will there still be ANY Entertainment Shows in front of the AMERICAN Building where the Eat To The Beat concerts will be ?
In the photo, I see people STANDING watching a music performance. I hope they still have SEATS while watching a MAIN Performer like before ??
