Love it or hate it, “it’s a small world” is one of the most ICONIC Disney rides EVER. No matter where you go or who you talk to, even a Disney novice can probably tell you about this attraction. It’s a classic!

You know the “it’s a small world” song. You know the “it’s a small world” characters. But did you know a BIG “it’s a small world” change is coming soon? That’s right — this classic attraction is getting a Marvel takeover with NEW character additions in an EPIC crossover. Suddenly, this simple old attraction sounds a whole lot more ACTION-PACKED, right?

Tokyo Disney Resort announced a brand-new “it’s a small world with Groot” ride crossover. This NEW version of the ride is set to debut in winter 2025. The ride will soon include characters “from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe designed in the endearing style of the Tokyo Disneyland attraction.” Oh, and for all you “it’s a small world” purists, don’t worry — this change will only happen for a limited time.

So, what’s the story behind this Marvel takeover? Well, in “it’s a small world with Groot,” Groot (from Guardians of the Galaxy) and his friends from Marvel Studios films are visiting Earth for vacation! This will mark the FIRST appearance of Marvel characters in an attraction at Tokyo Disney Resort, so this is a historic crossover. During Groot’s visit to Earth, he will encounter his friends in various locations on Earth and experience their regional cultures and music!

We’re still waiting for an official date for these NEW changes to come to life, but keep in mind that before “it’s a small world with Groot” debuts, the regualr “it’s a small world” ride will temporarily close in autumn 2024.
