It had been a busy Saturday in Disney World!
The Easter Parade kicked off today in Magic Kingdom for its annual 2-day run, and there has been a steady crowd of people celebrating the holiday in all the Disney Parks. This evening, we have word that a ride is down in EPCOT — and it looks like a maintenance issue.
Spaceship Earth went down about 5PM tonight and has remained closed. The lights and Spaceship Earth “shows” on the outside of the dome are not running tonight.
Instagram user @steph.tbhh sent us some photos of maintenance activity around the closed ride, and water leaking from the sphere seems to be the culprit.
Spaceship Earth has a gutter system to handle runoff from the outside of the sphere — like rainwater — so this leak may be coming from inside the ride building.
If you are unable to ride Spaceship Earth tonight, it does look like you have several alternatives with short standby waits in EPCOT, including Soarin’ and Living with the Land. This is a developing story. Keep following DFB for the latest Disney World news!
