We’ve gotta be honest here. This is a safe space, right? OK. Here goes. Confession time.
DFB reporters are NOT normal. At all. And we don’t mean that in a bad way because they’re AMAZING and work super hard to find all the breaking news and research park tips and review every single food and drink. But having that job sorta makes them stick out like sore thumbs when they’re in the Disney World parks.
When you’re as serious about getting the best Disney World coverage as our reporters are, there are just a few things you might do that are decidedly strange and unique. Here are seven things the DFB team does in Disney World that are just not normal!
The Camera Eats First (And It’s HUNGRY)
We pretty much never eat hot food in Disney World. Or frozen food. And it’s NOT because the food isn’t served to us hot or frozen — it’s just because the camera must eat first, and sometimes those photo shoots take a LONG time.
Whenever we try a new snack or go to review a restaurant, we take TONS of photos. If we’re not confined to a dining room, we’ll probably take that snack to several different locations in order to find the prettiest background for those photos (so if you see us speed-walking towards the Tree of Life with a brownie in our hands, no you didn’t).
Frozen treats like DOLE Whip are some of the most difficult to photograph because they melt SO quickly! We need to get all kinds of photos and videos from every angle, so sometimes we’ll have to go back and re-order the same treat just so we can get more pictures of it in its original state instead of the 30-minutes-later version when it’s basically a puddle.
Because we take so long to get the best photos, we definitely take that time into consideration when we review the taste of the food. That burger we ordered and then spent 45 minutes photographing is going to be ice cold when we eat it, but we won’t complain about that because it was definitely piping hot when the lovely Cast Members brought it out.
Our cameras are basically our constant companions, and they’re definitely greedy when it comes to those beautiful Disney snacks. But hey — that just means we eventually get to EAT the super tasty snacks, so really we can’t complain too much!

Our Packing Lists Are WEIRD
We have a LOT of experience when it comes to packing a Disney World park bag, and we know exactly what every guest will need when they visit. We’ve shared lots of tips about how to pack for the parks, but there are a couple of things in OUR bags that you WON’T need in yours.
One thing that we ALWAYS bring to the EPCOT festivals is a food tray. Sometimes we order three or more snacks at the food booths, and then we need to carry everything to a table, and we realize at that moment that we do not in fact have three hands. That’s when the food tray comes in clutch.
Some of the reporters have even decorated their trays to make them extra pretty so that the photos really pop!

Another thing that’s always in our park bags is Tupperware. We eat a LOT of food in Disney World, and sometimes we order several entrées even when just a couple of reporters are there to review the food (so that we’re trying a good variety of the menu). We never want to waste any food, so we pack Tupperware and Ziploc bags and take it all home to share with our family and friends!
Here’s a fun pro tip we learned after eating a lot of dessert in Disney Springs: Gideon’s cookies freeze really well, and they’ll stay good for a long time in the freezer. Some of us may or may not have a stash on standby for cookie emergencies.

“One of Everything, Please.”
Yes, this is actually something we’ve said at Disney World restaurants. Multiple times. When a restaurant is brand-new (or debuts a brand-new menu), we really will order EVERYTHING!
Recently, we’ve done this at Roundup Rodeo BBQ in Hollywood Studios, Space 220 in EPCOT, and the Ice Cold Hydraulics stand in Hollywood Studios. We ate everything at the now-closed Star Wars Hotel. Other restaurants where we’ve done it include Aloha Isle, Casey’s Corner, 50’s Prime Time Café…you get the picture. At Space 220, a manager literally came out and asked us if we knew what we were doing. We assured them that we’re professional eaters of Disney food.
When we actually order everything on the menu somewhere, we make sure that there are multiple reporters there to taste it all, and we bring EXTRA Tupperware. On those days, we’re particularly popular with all our friends, who want a taste of the leftovers.
We don’t order everything on the menu every time we do a food review, but we still usually get at least a few entrées. Recently, we went to Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and just ordered four desserts because they were all new — that was an excellent meal. 😂
We ate EVERYTHING at one of the most popular restaurants in Magic Kingdom!
We Take Our Research SERIOUSLY
When Disney comes out with a bunch of new snacks to celebrate some kind of event or just as a menu overhaul situation, we don’t just try some of the new stuff. We try it ALL.
Our job is to test out everything so that YOU know which eats taste the best, are the best bang for your buck, and actually live up to their pretty exterior. That’s a job that we really do take seriously, so we get everything, photograph the heck out of it, and then give you our honest review.
Most people aren’t gonna spend their Disney World day speed-walking between snack stands, buying sugary treats one after the other, getting their tongue stained bright blue (because why do the blue treats ALWAYS stain your tongue??), and completely ignoring the rides and other attractions in the park. But on days when there are a bunch of new things to try, that’s exactly what we do!
For a little behind-the-scenes sneak peek, March has been a particularly busy month for us because Disney is celebrating Easter, Women’s History Month, AND St. Patrick’s Day, which means specialty treats for ALL the occasions! Our reporters have been juggling treat reviews all month long.

The American Adventure Bathrooms Are the Best — IYKYK
So here’s something really weird about us. We have favorite bathrooms in Disney World. (If you do too — HII! Can we be friends?!)
We spend all day in the parks, several days a week, and after a few years of doing that, you start to know exactly which bathrooms are going to be the cleanest, the least busy, and the most private.
We also have favorite charging stations (all that photographing kills your phone battery FAST) and shady spots where we like to take a break and hide from the sun.
Most people who visit the parks have favorite rides, restaurants, and snacks. And of course we have all of those too. But there aren’t a ton of people who can tell you that the bathrooms towards the back of the American Adventure pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase are the BEST in the park!

We Invent WEIRD Food Hacks (You Know — for Science)
The chefs at Disney World are incredibly creative when it comes to inventing new dishes and snacks. Sometimes, we feel inspired to try our hand at culinary creativity too. We’ve had…mixed results.
We’ve definitely come up with some AWESOME Disney World food hacks, like the Mickey Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich with Peanut Butter Sauce, the Coconut Churro DOLE Whip Sundae, the Nutella Fresh Fruit Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich, and the Mango DOLE Whip Float.
Other times, we’ve been…less successful. Remember that time we tried Powerade Mountain Berry Blast Float with Chocolate Soft-Serve at Sunshine Tree Terrace in Magic Kingdom? Yeah…not our best work.
We’ve also tried some unusual food hacks at fast food chains like McDonald’s! The Krispy Kreme Big Mac was 10/10, but the chicken and doughnuts didn’t work quite so well.
Anyway, we’re gonna keep trying out every fun combination of Disney food, because once in a while we stumble upon something GENIUS.

Our Lives Depend on Portable Chargers
That might be a little bit dramatic. But it’s not completely inaccurate either. Our reporters communicate with our editors and writing team all day long while they’re in the parks, and they also use their phones to snap photos of the food they try, send videos of changes, and keep an eye on ride wait times and other changes. Basically, our phones are the most important tools we have. When the battery dies, we PANIC.
Because keeping our phones charged is our number one priority, we’ve tested EVERY portable charger on the market, looking for the best one. Although our reporters have their own preferences for portable chargers, one of the most popular options for our team is the FuelRod chargers.
These are especially handy because, when the charger is empty, you can swap it at kiosks throughout Disney World to get fully charged ones. Voila! Back in business, baby.
FuelRod kiosks can be found throughout Disney World, but they’re also located at some shopping malls, airports, and other popular travel locations.

So if you happen to see someone taking approximately 8,000 photos of their cupcake, ordering four entrées at a restaurant when they’re dining by themselves, or booking it to the nearest charging station…yeah, that’s probably us. 😂 Come say hi!
