Although we would always like to think that our Disney World trips are going to be perfect, sometimes they’re not.
You can’t count on things to go right. Sometimes, the weather is just awful. It’s either super rainy or it’s just so hot that you can’t see straight. Or maybe your favorite ride is closed. Maybe the crowds are just getting to be too much. We’ve all faced these things. So we’re going to tell you about times we thought we were just about to give up, and then tell you how we carried on.
We dealt with miserable weather
Everyone on the DFB team has faced some miserable weather in Disney World. There are days when the rain NEVER lets up (and when it’s winter, it can get cold, believe it or not). Or there are other days where it’s so hot and humid that it makes you feel so BLAH. We know everyone wants to maximize their time in the parks because they paid for those tickets, but get this: You paid for your hotel room, too.
So what we do is take a break We leave the parks and go back to our hotel room. We mobile order some food and snacks, and sometimes we just change out of our wet or sweaty clothes and into our pajamas and watch Disney+ from our hotel bed. This is one of the best ways to recharge, and we promise you’ll feel better after.
6 Places You DO NOT Want To Be in Disney World When It Rains
We missed a character meet and greet
There’s just so much to do in Disney World that it’s way too easy to miss something like meeting your favorite character. That can be really disappointing (especially if you have kids who want to meet that character, but we Disney adults can get disappointed, too). So you just might think you’ll be leaving Disney World without meeting that character.
But wait! Unless it’s your last day in Disney World, you may have an opportunity to see that character in a different park. Many of the characters appear in all four parks, so all you need to do is check the My Disney Experience app for their appearances and times.

We got overwhelmed by crowds
Y’all, even when Disney World ISN’T super busy, sometimes the crowds in Magic Kingdom can be…a lot. This is the most popular park and you’ll know that the minute you rope drop and see the long lines waiting to get in. Dealing with all that, especially when it’s a busy day, can get to be too much. We’ve been overwhelmed by crowds before — we’ll admit it.
So here’s what we did: We left. Yep, we left Magic Kingdom. If you just need to get away, you can head back to your hotel or you can hop on the Monorail and visit the Polynesian Village, Grand Floridian, or Contemporary Resorts. (Pro tip: go to the Polynesian if you want to grab a Dole Whip). Or head to Disney Springs…on weekdays, it’s hardly that crowded at all. Sometimes you don’t need to tough it out. You can have a great time ANYWHERE in Disney World.
Disney World Crowds Have Gotten Unpredictable. Here’s How To Make That Not Matter.
We didn’t get that dining reservation we wanted
Have you always dreamed of dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table, but just couldn’t get a reservation before your trip? It’s a bummer, for sure, but there’s always hope! First, we’re going to recommend that you get the DFB Guide To Walt Disney World Dining so you can find suitable alternatives or even learn how to snag last-minute reservations.
Don’t forget, though, that you can also keep checking because folks don’t have to cancel reservations until two hours before their reservation, so you might snag one that way, too. Plus you can check the Mobile Dine Walk-Up Waitlist and get into that restaurant that way.

We forgot to buy that souvenir we wanted
Imagine this: You’re in a Disney World shop and you see the PERFECT souvenir in a park, but you decide to buy it later. But then you forget that you were going to buy it later and you’ve left the park. Oh no!!! The good news is that you may still be able to get that souvenir before you go home.
If you’re out of park days, you can always check for that item at Disney Springs or even at your hotel gift shop (although those shops are generally pretty small). You may even find that souvenir at the Orlando International Airport. If all else fails, check The Disney Store website when you get home to see if it’s available online.
STOP Shopping for Souvenirs in Disney World (Do THIS Instead!)
So, yes, it’s easy to get frustrated at Disney World when things don’t quite go according to plan, but there’s usually a way to make it better, we promise!

We could not access Disney + in our hotel room. For the price I pay for that plus the vacation itself, that should be allowed with my username and password.
