We need to talk about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. But to do that, we actually need to talk about a CHRISTMAS party first. Whaaaat? Yes, really. Hear us out for a moment.
Disney has announced ALL of the updates for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in 2024, including dates, tickets, pricing and more! But to make our point, let us take you back in time to 2023. Last year, Disney debuted a brand-new holiday event called Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We attended the very first Jollywood Nights party, and honestly, it was a little chaotic. But THEN, we gave the party a try again LATER in December. It was a LOT different by the time a few more parties had gone by in Disney World. We can all learn an important lesson from this story, so let’s talk about the mistake we’re NOT going to make in 2024.
Disney has officially announced that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is back starting on August 9th. But before we all rush to start planning our 2024 Halloween trips, we should take a step back and make some plans. As tempting as it is to be among the FIRST to enjoy this year’s Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom, you may be better off waiting to attend a party a few days (or weeks) after night one.
Why? Well, in our experience (and trust us — we’ve been doing this for YEARS), the first night is usually very crowded and expensive. Think of it like rope-drop, but for a PARTY instead of a ride. There’s a special group of people who make it a point to be there for the FIRST day of Halloween, so night one of the party is normally filled with the Halloween SUPERFANS. In fact, it’s very likely that the first party of 2024 will sell out.
Now, we should also point out that you may see a few extra kinks and small issues on night one. Cast Members may need to work out the bugs before they have a few parties under their belts! We saw this happen on night one of Jollywood Nights, but after receiving some feedback and adding some additional offerings to subsequent parties, Cast Members were able to make some improvements to the Hollywood Studios party.
Here’s the thing about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party: there’s no dress rehearsal for an entire PARTY. Cast Members have to experience night one along with all the party attendees, so be prepared for a fun but potentially imperfect event.
Luckily, there are usually a LOT of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates to choose from, so unless you truly have your heart set on visiting the very first party, we suggest you take a look at the calendar and find a less expensive party date. This year there was a bit of a price increase and, ticket prices range from $119 to $199, depending on the date. Looking at the 2023 calendar, you can see the price dropped by $40 after the first party.
That said, those ticket prices can get even higher if you wait until late October or early November. We should have date by date pricing for 2024 for you soon!
Moral of the story? Avoid that early August party if you can — night one seems to be a little different than the other party nights! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
