We go to Disney World a LOT and well, we’ve seen some things.
Some of those things are super cute, like baby animals out on the savanna at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Sometimes, we see sad things like an abandoned box of Dole Whips. Sometime we see things that make us laugh, like the antics happening at EPCOT’s Tiny Train Town. Then there are the cringey things we’ve seen. However, we asked YOU, our DFB readers to share the cringiest things you’ve seen in Disney World, and BOY, did y’all have some stories.
Megan told us about a Disney World bathroom visit: “I was in the bathrooms in Tomorrowland. Watched a toddler drop one of those huge swirled lollipops in the bathroom floor. Mom just picked it up and handed it back to the kid who immediately put it back in his mouth.”
Um…ew…but five-second rule, maybe?
Sophia’s story wasn’t gross, but definitely made us cringe: “One time we watched this Dad go-off on a cast member because he didn’t get into the queue for Rise of the Resistance. It’s not the cast members’ fault that you didn’t prepare for your trip sir. And while I can understand that it would be irritating to not be able to ride a ride, set policies and procedures are not the cast members faults. Be kind.”
We can never stress how important is to “be kind” in Disney World. Cast Members do everything they can to make guests visits so magical and they deserve nothing but kindness, especially for situations that are out of their control.
Jennifer had an incident with a questionable t-shirt: “A man in front of us checking in at CRT [Cinderella’s Royal Table] with his family wearing a deer hunting graphic tee…I think it had rifles and a dead deer with lolling tongue on the back. It’s just tone deaf. Cover your eyes, Bambi!”
We’re sure that man might have found the shirt amusing, but, yeah, we get how that can be cringe to other guests.
Sometimes, kids will be kids, but they can do very cringey things. Robin commented: “I saw dad and daughter standing in line in front of us. We were in the monsters inc. and the little girl went up to one of the clear like aquarium cylinders and gave it a big long lick. “
Adults can be gross, too. Cristine said, “I saw countless people taking their gross sweat covered cooling towels and dunking it into the ice tanks where the bottle drinks were. Squeezing out the excess water/sweat. Then I thought about everyone getting those little bottles of soda and water out of the same buckets and just putting it in their mouth to drink .”
Um…ew…we’re just going to tell you now to NOT do this? If you need to wet your cooling towel, take it into the bathroom and run it under cold water in the sink there.
You’ve probably seen us mention the love bug problem at Disney World before, so this comment from Lisa made us shudder: “While standing in line for Slash Mountain 5 years ago the love bugs were terrible In May. My two kids and I witnessed a love bug fly into a child’s mouth and I believe he swallowed it. ”
These bugs generally show up in Florida in May and then later in September. Yes, they are a menace. But EW!
This next one is just sad, but also a little funny. Danielle answered: “Someone calling Donald Daffy Duck.” Oh no, they didn’t! Donald deserves more respect than that!
Mysti shared some bad behavior by a child: “Was having a rare, pretty unmagical day at MK last August and went in to Pinocchio Village Haus to eat and cool off. Set our Key Lime Tart between us to get ready to eat it and a toddler ran by, stuck their finger right in it, licked said finger whilst yelling Yum!, and continued running by.”
Okay, so here’s the thing: parents, you’re responsible for what your kids do in Disney World. We’ve seen things like this first-hand ourselves.
Many of the stories didn’t involve kids, but misbehaving adults, and sadly, that often seems to be a big problem. Desiree commented: “A woman screaming at her child that he was the reason that they were having a terrible time and that he needed to be quiet. he wasn’t even 2 years old and was obviously overtired and stimulated but the mom blamed HIM for them not being about to go on flight of passage.”
We don’t think the kid was the problem here…
Y’all had plenty of other super-cringe stories to share and we’ll be having nightmares about some of those things you told us FOR WEEKS. If you want to participate in discussions like this, though, be sure to follow us on Facebook.
