You know what they say about April showers…
All over the Southeast, rainy weather and storms are brewing. This is typical for springtime, but doesn’t mean you should be any less prepared. Tornadoes and other severe storm systems have hit southern states this week, and now, some bad weather is coming to Florida. Disney World is likely to be affected, so here’s what you need to know.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that “strong to marginally severe storms” will affect Central Florida, especially along the I-4 corridor. Yep, this includes Orlando.
The Sentinel said, “The timing of the storms are expected to be along the northern parts of the I-4 corridor from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and south of Orlando from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Southwest winds are increasing to 20-30 mph with gusts up to 35-40 mph, according to NWS Melbourne.”
As of right now, there doesn’t seem to be a threat of a tornado, but wind speeds are still expected to get pretty high, and high amounts of rain are expected.
So…what can you expect if you’re at Disney World? Well, indoor attractions likely won’t close, but outdoor attractions are subject to close due to heavy rain, thunder, and lightning. If you feel unsafe, just stay home or in your hotel room! However, if you’re comfortable enough to stay in the parks, there are plenty of indoor rides to visit as the storms pass.
