If you want to avoid crowds in Disney World, keep reading!
Now, you may be aware that Spring Break will soon be winding down, and you may think that visiting Magic Kingdom might be a lot less chaotic in the next few months. However, that isn’t always the case. There are some events that are coming to Disney World that will bring a LOT of people to the resort, with the majority of them visiting Magic Kingdom. So we’re going to let you know when those days are.
The runDisney events usually bring a lot of crowds to Disney World, and that will be the case on April 18th through 21st when Disney World hosts the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend. These events are HUGE, and you’ll find crowds in Magic Kingdom, as a result. You’ll also find traffic to be affected because some roads will close in the morning for the running events, so keep that in mind if you’re driving that weekend.
From April 24th through 26th, the ICU Junior World and World Cheerleading Championships will bring TONS of people to Magic Kingdom (and to the All-Star Resorts — beware!). During that same weekend, from April 26th through 28th, Disney World will also host The Cheerleading Worlds and The Dance Worlds championship events. So that weekend will see three times the crowds as normal!
On May 2nd through 5th, The Summit 2024 Championship will be held (this is another cheerleading competition), with The Dance Summit being held on May 3rd through 5th. So expect DOUBLE the crowds to descend upon Magic Kingdom. The D2 Summit will be held on May 10th through 12th.
Finally, May 25th through 27th is Memorial Day Weekend, which often brings BIG crowds to Magic Kingdom. We generally tell folks to steer clear if they don’t like crowds. Also, this is when the Disney Memorial Day Soccer Tournament also happens.
So if you can avoid these dates in Disney World, you can avoid the worst of the crowds over the next few months.

Thank you!!! This is so helpful. I was planning a trip for around 5/2… not anymore! I have been there when there was a cheer competition before. Teenage girls are awful…and LOUD; running around and screaming at 11pm. No, thank you.

How bad is it generally the week right after Memorial Day? May 28th – 31st? Are Florida schools on summer break already?
DFB Gigi says
Hi! It can get pretty crowded then. Florida schools begin getting out for summer as early as May 22nd in some counties, while the majority get out at the end of May.
