Disney World trips are pretty magical, but sometimes they can feel a bit overwhelming.
Whether it’s due to all the stress around the planning or the packing, or the stress of getting there (flying has come with some craziness lately), sometimes when you arrive at Disney World you’re feeling overwhelmed already. Luckily, Disney has been making strides over the past years to really help combat all that stress, so let’s talk about a couple of ways in which going to Disney World has gotten that much easier!
Let’s dive into five ways in which going to Disney has gotten easier! (In no particular order.)
Mobile Order
Gone are the days of the struggle (you know what we’re talking about) when you had to shuffle through long queues and your stomach was rumbling. With Mobile Order on the My Disney Experience app, you’re in control.
You can browse the menus at the select quick-service restaurant of your choosing, place the order on your phone, and choose a pick-up time that fits your schedule.
Now you don’t need to wait in those long lines to order anymore, which means you’ll have more time to enjoy the parks and fewer “hangry” meltdowns for you and your party.
This Disney World App CHANGE Makes Mobile Order EASIER
Mobile Checkout
Similar to Mobile Order, this next one will have you skipping by those long checkout lines for all that Disney merch — Mobile Checkout.
The way it works is that if you’re inside a store, you’ll be able to scan the barcode of any items you’d like to purchase and then check out right on the app! Also, if you qualify for a Disney World discount (like an Annual Passholder or DVC discount), it’ll be automatically applied to your items so long as you’re signed into the Disney account that’s associated with that discount.
Once you’ve paid for your items in the app, you’ll get a QR code. Show this QR code to the Cast Members at one of these Mobile Checkout stations, and they’ll scan your code and then give you a bag to carry all of your stuff in.
This could save you a lot of time if the lines at the checkout counter are long.
Here’s a list of all the stores that are currently using Mobile Checkout in Disney World:
- Emporium at Magic Kingdom
- Star Traders at Magic Kingdom
- Tomorrowland Launch Depot at Magic Kingdom
- Creations Shop at EPCOT
- Treasures of Xandar at EPCOT
- Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Mickey’s of Hollywood at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Discovery Trading Company at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Island Mercantile at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Super Hero Headquarters at Disney Springs
- World of Disney at Disney Springs
Digital Tickets & Hotel Keys
Now you no longer have to rummage through your backpack for that misplaced park ticket or stressing about losing your hotel room key. They live right on your phone within the My Disney Experience app.
When you’re checking into your hotel room, you can check the app to see real-time updates about when your room is ready. When it’s ready, your room number will pop up! You can then use your phone to unlock the door.
On the Disney World app (under “Hotel Reservations”), you should see an option to “Unlock Door” (located right under your room number).
You can click this to unlock your hotel room door! You do have to be close by — you need to hold up your phone to the door’s lock in order to use this feature.
Having these tickets and keys live right in the app on our phones definitely helps eliminate the stress of losing those physical copies we used to have to keep track of.
Virtual Queues
Say what you will about how difficult it may be to even get into a virtual queue, you can’t argue against how convenient it truly is to not have to spend the majority of your time standing and waiting in a ride queue.
Right now, the only rides using virtual queues are Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and TRON Lightcycle / Run, but they’ll definitely help in giving you more time and flexibility to roam the parks and explore.
We’re interested to see if Disney uses a Virtual Queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure when it opens this summer.
4 Rules You Need To Know Before You Use Virtual Queues in Disney World
Advance Dining Reservations
With over 200 restaurants to choose from, there are SO many options for you — everything from fast food to 3-hour, multi-course meals.
The most popular places can get booked up SO quickly, but remember that you can book dining reservations up to 60 days in advance using the My Disney Experience app. And Disney just made that easier to do!
You can now search for dining availability for multiple days at one time! To use this new feature, you’ll start by looking for reservations as usual. Press the ‘+’ button on the My Disney Experience home screen and select “Check Dining Availability.” You’ll then choose your party size, start date, and time. However, once the screen loads, you’ll notice a new “Check Availability for Multiple Days” button beneath each restaurant. You can look for availability on up to 10 days at a time!
We’ve got a step-by-step guide to using this new feature right here. This could really come in handy — especially when you are willing to be flexible with your park days.

I would say that digital park passes & hotel keys would still leave me rummaging inside my bag to find my phone. Magic Bands are what makes it easier.
