Are you counting down the days until your next trip to Disney World?
We don’t blame you. Disney World has some pretty epic rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Avatar Flight of Passage. That being said, we’re not the only ones who think that maybe some of the rides aren’t all that they’re cracked up to be, right? To that point, we wanted to get your thoughts about which Disney World rides you felt weren’t worth the hype!
We reached out to our followers on Facebook to ask: “Which Disney World rides do you think are OVERHYPED but actually super UNDERWHELMING?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!
Now, let’s dive into the results!
1. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
We have a clear winner here (at over 200 of you with this response, it’s not even close). The vast majority of you expressed that the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was BY FAR the most overhyped ride in all four Disney World parks.
Let’s have a peek at some of your top responses:
- “7 dwarves mine train. Why that ride always has such a long line boggles my mind.”
- “I was so psyched to ride it, and then it was kind of boring and short.”
- “Mine Train!!!!! Hate it! Waited 3 hours to ride and it was so boring. I don’t plan on riding again..”
- “Seven dwarfs mine train. Not actually fun. Super jerky. Give me Guardians of the Galaxy any day all day.”
Like that last response, it’s pretty hard to justify waiting for the Mine Train when you’ve got such a stellar ride in Cosmic Rewind. (It’s not even a fair comparison in our opinion.) The only caveat is that the Mine train can be a fun one when you have an extremely short wait.
2. Peter Pan’s Flight
In second place, we COMPLETELY understand you when you mentioned that Peter Pan’s Flight is way, WAY overhyped and underwhelming. (About 100 of you responded this way.) Sure they’ve done what updates they could over the years, but the quality of the attraction and the intensely long wait times just don’t match up.
To that point, take a look at some of your top responses:
- “Peter Pan. It’s nostalgic but if you didn’t grow up with it, it’s not worth the wait for me. If it’s a walk-on, sure. But not worth an hour’s wait.”
- “Peter Pan for sure. I will never wait in that line again and I will discourage others from doing so too. Unless you’re a massive Peter Pan fan, it’s just not worth the time it takes to do it.”
- “Peter Pan I don’t understand why the Line is always way too long I think is an ok ride.”
- “I’m going to make people angry with this one. Peter Pans Flight. The line is always way too long for the short ride that it is. I get that it’s a classic, but It’s not worth the wait.”
The main. point is that, if this is your ABSOLUTE favorite ride, well then my friend, ride it to your heart’s content. The rest of us will happily pass on this one (unless there just so happens to be only a 15-minute wait time).
3. Rise of the Resistance
In third place, sure the ride has some pretty nifty tech, but we can see where you’re coming from when you said that the hype might not match the experience of Rise of the Resistance. (About 50 of you had this response.)
Here’s a look at some of your top responses:
- “Rise of the Resistance. It was an underwhelming one and done for me!”
- “Rise of the Resistance. No idea how that ride has a line at all.”
- “Same, but I think it’s just cause I’m not a Star Wars fan. I can acknowledge how cool and advanced it is technically, but also, meh. I’m fine skipping it.”
The same thing goes for this one, just like with Pan’s Flight. If you’re a ride-or-die Star Wars fan, well then, this ride is your magnum opus. You must not pass it up. The rest of us will go chill in Galaxy’s Edge and maybe grab a Ronto Wrap and some Blue Milk.
4. TRON Lightcycle / Run
In fourth place, we’ve got TRON Lightcycle / Run. I know it feels like this ride has only been open at Disney World for a short minute, but we are totally with you. This ride’s hype versus the underwhelming feeling you get… Let’s just say that the difference is incredibly stark. (About 50 of you had this response.)
Here’s a look at some of your top responses:
- “Tron…hands down!”
- “Tron……it’s about 2 minutes too short. Since it’s all of a 58-second ride.”
- “I’m going with Tron. The ride is way too short. For me, it’s a one-and-done. I think you should ride it, but once you have, you can skip it from now on.”
- “Tron. We got one of the last boarding groups of the day, but it ended up being just me, my husband, and two others. I had to ride in the car at the back along with one of the others and my husband was in front with the other guy. It felt too short and was not nearly as intense as I thought it would be, but I’m a big roller coaster girly and none of the rides at WDW are that intense to me. Maybe had we not done Cosmic Rewind for the first time the day before it would’ve been better.”
To that last point, just like with the Mine Train, there just might not be any ride that can compare to the thrill of rocking with the Guardians on Cosmic Rewind. It’s just magical.
5. Jungle Cruise
In the last place on this list, this one caught us completely by surprise when we heard you mention that the Jungle Cruise just doesn’t live up to the hype. (About 40 of you had this response.) Maybe we love a good pun just a bit too much, so we could be a bit biased on this one.
Here’s a look at some of your top responses:
- “Don’t hate on me, but jungle cruise”
- “I 100% agree lol even with a good skipper that makes me laugh the ride is just blah. Needs to be redone with better things. It’s so fake-looking and boring lol.”
Listen, we promise not to hate on you. To each their own. Just don’t judge us while we stare at the backside of water…
Those were just some of your thoughts on the Disney World rides you found to be overhyped and underwhelming, and we’d love to find out more from you! Until then, keep it right here for all the latest Disney news!

It’s horses for courses, if we all liked the same rides it would be chaos. We should celebrate that we all have different favourites therefore spreads out the crowds.

Going to start a fight here BUT Disney should re-theme Jungle Cruise. It was, and still is a fun ride, BUT now we have REAL animals at AK.
Tron was ok and way too short. Glad we rode it but won’t care if we ride it again.

I agree that 7 Dwarfs and Tron are too short. Both could have been great. Rise of the resistance has neat tech, but there is not much to the story. Could be better if it was more interactive, such as give us laser pistols to shoot back at some storm troopers. Disagree on Peter Pan. The artwork and perspective as you fly over London is absolutely amazing. Did Disney make that attraction more PC concerning Tiger Lilly? Jungle Cruise, I think going PC removed some of the good humor elements, but a good skipper can still make for a great experience. I still laugh when our skipper points out the butterflies, scientifically known as plasticus mechanicus, with a wing span ranging from 12 inches all the way up to one foot! Idea: Find “The Amazing John,” formerly of the Boardwalk Buskers from years ago, to add some new puns and jokes into the Jungle Cruise script. That guy was brilliant, stand up comedy ready. My dad and I would laugh our heads off at the old Boardwalk Buskers. We wouldn’t miss a show.

Do you forget that most of the rides mentioned are geared to kids. I love how they enclosed Peter Pan so we were air conditioned and could see rooms the kids lived in, etc. If you bypass the lines, you miss the stories before the ride. Seven Dwarfs has some cool things to keep kids amused while waiting. So does Haunted Mansion. I’ve done Rise of the Resistance once. I thought the room of Storm Troopers was awesome! I still talk about it. I thought at first they were real! Tap into your inner child. I still can be fooled. Love it.

Jane Dew is absolutely correct! My favorite happpens to be Dumbo! Too old for the exciting rides. Too young for the ride my grandmother liked at my age (66). I also don’t care for the focus on so much food these days.
Dottyanna says
Agree with all of these, except for PPF. I just love that ride….it makes me happy, but I can understand why some don’t appreciate the long wait for this ride. I couldn’t agree more with Tron. No need to ride that ride again.
Mark Cleland says
The thing that I love about Walt Disney World is the balance of experiences they have. I have been to several other theme parks that are mostly roller coasters. That is great if you love roller coasters, but it makes for a poor experience for those who don’t. WDW has experiences that are enjoyable for a variety of people. I like the mix. You can do a thrill ride, then follow it up with a dark ride or a show. My wife will opt out on many of the thrill rides, but she can still have a great experience at WDW due to the variety of experiences they have. It is this variety/mix that makes WDW so special.

Adults didn’t like the Dwarves Mine Ride? Colour me surprised, it’s a kids ride. Reach in to your Inner Child and see it through the eyes of a child. Stop being the Adult and enjoy
Master Yoda says
I agree with most of those comments on overhyped rides. I confess to be a Star Wars fan, but the lines can be way too long. Tron was fun, but line, and wait was way too long. I am however surprised how Slinky Dog Dash was not mentioned!! Longest line of all. And nice ride sure, but not worth a 2 to 3 hour wait.
Thumbs up to Gaurdians of the Galaxy! When we rode it there was no wait at all.
And lastly, I’ll be happy when the Rockin Roller Coaster is reopened.

One last comment, “We wants the red head.”
