This is the ride update you’re looking for (finally)!
It’s been a while since Star Tours was updated from its original ride form to include a random mix of scenes, storyline, and surprise characters to take you through your entire adventure. While it’s a tease that’s been in existence for quite some time now, we finally have a lengthy array of Star Wars spin-off series on Disney+ to unite fans no matter when your first exposure to the franchise was. Now, the day has finally come to experience it together and see all the changes!
Lots of changes were teased to happen for Star Wars fans across Disney World, Disneyland Paris, AND Disneyland on April 5th, 2024 and now we FINALLY get to see what the Disney Imagineers have worked so hard on!
As we’ve previously mentioned, starting today, Star Tours will now take you on new adventures featuring characters and locations from popular Disney+ Star Wars series like Ashoka, Andor, and The Mandalorian. With the latest updates, this means that Star Wars fans can ride Star Tours over and over again and have over 250 different adventures to be assigned changing up characters, locations, and storylines!
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! Skip reading if you want to be surprised the next time you ride!
There weren’t any immediate changes when we first boarded the ride. The opening scene was one we’ve seen before, but after we launched out of the Star Tours port, we went to Tattooine and did some pod racing — that’s not new either. But this is where things change! We sped into space and got a transmission Din Djarin and Grogu (A.K.A. the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda).
Din Djarin gave us a speech about needing our help to complete the mission, while Grogu chomped on one of his favorite snacks (IYKYK) before proceeding to spit it out directly at us thanks to that 3D effect.
From there, we were met by Ahsoka Tano and Star Wars Rebels and saw some space whales also known as Purrgil! Ahsoka then appeared to help us out, so we fought alongside her for a bit. Then, we were launched back into space and came back to the Star Tours spaceport! Ahsoka told us we had done a nice job and said, “Safe travels, good to see you again R-2,” and the ride was over.
Disney shared that there are also scenes featuring Cassian Andor, but we haven’t spotted those yet — we’ll be sure to update you when we do!
Cast Members shared that during the initial rollout, riders should be able to see a combination of a new scene, new planet, and new transmission featuring Mando, Cassian, or Ahsoka!
We’re always keeping up with the latest Disneyland news, updates, and changes so be sure to stay tuned with us for more!
