Friends, we are ONE step closer to the Dinoland, U.S.A. retheme!
We’ve been hearing about this reimagining for a long time, we’ve seen some concept art, and we’ve even seen work permits filed that gave us a hunch that these changes were coming sooner than we thought. Well, we now have an UPDATE on where Imagineering is with the retheme process, and we have to say — it is getting us EXCITED.
We have been waiting with bated breath to get some updates on the Dinoland re-imagining, and we are relieved that we finally got a look behind the curtain to see what Imagineering is up to when it comes to this project!
Recently, Imagineering took a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula so that they could learn about the art, culture, and archaeology of the Maya. This trip gave them some tools that they needed to begin working on the Dinoland re-theme into The Tropical Americas!Â
Since they have been back from their trip, they have begun working on 3-D models to help them visualize what this land will look like as they begin creating more solid plans.Â
We saw a model of what appears to be the entrance archway, some architecture, as well as Casita from Encanto! None of these models are made with color, so be sure to use your imagination when you’re picturing what these places will look like! You can see the full video here.
We can’t wait to see more about what this retheme will look like, and get even more details about what we should be expecting to see. While we wait for those details to be announced, keep checking in with us at DFB for the latest news and updates!

Just move Indy over there and stick with the tried and true.

The bar is extremely low in being an improvement compared to DinoLand. That land was likely the cheapest and worst executed in a Disney park. The dinosaur concept was a great one, but the execution was a horrible miss. It was long overdue to be replaced so it will be great to see an area that is on par with the rest of the park.

I love Dinoland sad to see it go.

Coincidentally just finished rewatching Encanto! so immediately picked up on the “fantastical & magical” reference as that is part of the lyrics to the movie theme song ;). Not that it’s a secret that Encanto! will be a part of the theming for the new land, but I just thought it was cute he worked it into the promo :). Maybe it’s because Dinoland was built outside of my age demographic, but I’ve never really connected with it. Not so sorry to see it go and be replaced with something I do really like. I say – bring it!
