We may only be a quarter of the way through 2024, but it’s never too early to look ahead to your 2025 Disney World Vacation!
When it comes to planning your next Disney World vacation, look no further — we’re here to help! From vacation packages to Disney Park tips, planning a Disney World trip takes a lot of preparation. One of the most overlooked parts of planning can be air travel. If you’re looking for flying advice, you’ve come to the right place!
When it comes to flying to Orlando International Airport (MCO), it’s important to consider which airlines actually make frequent flights to and from the airport. After some research, we’ve discovered the most popular airlines that travel through MCO, which could help you decide the airline you want to use during your next Disney World vacation!
Southwest Airlines
Southwest Airlines, by far, is the most frequently flown airline at MCO. With the most destinations (and growing), Southwest is easily the most obvious airline to choose when flying to Orlando. In fact, this summer, Southwest will make MCO their hub for international flights coming in and out of Florida.
We use Southwest a lot for our Disney World vacations. It generally has lower airfare than competitors, doesn’t charge cancel or change fees, and allows passengers to check two bags for free. People have mixed feelings about the open seating policy, but obviously that hasn’t deterred the airline from doing serious business in Orlando.
Southwest frequently has deals, so keep your eyes peeled!
JetBlue Airways
JetBlue Airways is so ingrained with Orlando travel that it has a hotel partnership with Universal Orlando Resort. Orlando is JetBlue’s focus city and makes plenty of daily trips to and from the city.
It’s worth watching if this airline ends up merging with Spirit Airlines after its initial deal was blocked in court. Spirit is one of the main airlines to frequent MCO and would have made this list had it not been suffering from financial issues, leading it to an unknown fate.
Delta Airlines
In 2022 and 2023, Delta Airlines was the third most popular domestic airline at MCO and it is expected to have continued success in 2024 and beyond.
In fact, this past February it upgraded its flying experience, including first-class seats that offer more privacy, comfort, storage space, and a sturdier tray table. They are also installing some new 10-inch Panasonic screens to seat backs and touchless features to lavatories on Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Finally, more lie-flat suites are being added to the Airbus A350-900 aircraft, which will debut this summer.
Frontier Airlines
Frontier Airlines is just slightly behind Delta in popularity at MCO thanks to its VERY cheap airfare.
This budget airline similarly went through recent upgrades and regularly offers MASSIVE discounts. Unfortunately, it just ended flights between MCO and Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania, but it’s still an airline to circle if you’re looking to spend most of your money at Disney World and not on air travel!
American Airlines
American Airlines is Ol’ Reliable if you are looking for flights to MCO out of a domestic major city.
This airline, which is about to change its frequent flyer program, has destinations to Austin, Charlotte, Chicago–O’Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, Phoenix–Sky Harbor, and Washington–National airports. If you live near any of these major cities, American Airlines should be on your radar.
We’ll keep you posted on any airline and airfare updates and deals we find throughout this year and into 2025, so stay tuned here at DFB for all the latest!
