Take a look at this concept art. Looks nice, right? Well, soon, Disney could make this a reality!
Imagineers are building an ENTIRE new section of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort right now. These new hotel rooms are set to open later this year, but Disney still hasn’t shared an exact opening date quite yet. Trust us, we’re keeping our eyes peeled. While we wait for more news, we might as well check in on the current construction progress, right? Let’s take a look!
OK, so some BIG changes are happening at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Those new Polynesian Village Resort are EXTRA special. Why? Disney revealed that these new rooms will be Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas! During a recent visit to the resort, we noticed some impressive changes to the area.
These new villas will be “inspired by the early concepts for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.” The building itself is HUGE — bigger than it seems in photos, so prepare for a LOT more rooms at the Polynesian Village Resort.
The hotel is being constructed on the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon, with a clear waterfront view. We have a feeling these new villas will provide some gorgeous views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Looking closer at the construction, we can see a large covered outdoor area. Will this be part of a bar? Restaurant? We can’t wait to see!
Disney has also confirmed that the new villas will offer new dining and swimming areas. Based on the concept art, we think that this flat area may be a new pool. Perhaps a restaurant could be attached to the pool (maybe a pool bar or lounge setup?).
The new villas will have other “recreational areas,” so we’re keeping our eyes peeled for clues as to what guests may be able to soon enjoy. Any guesses?
Disney is keeping a lot of the details on this project under wraps for now, but we’ll be sure to share more information as soon as possible! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

It’s an eyesore. One thing everyone is talking about is how having that many more guests on Polynesian property is going to negatively impact the guest volume at both Poly and Grand Floridian restaurants. There’s also impacts to transportation. If we all thought the monorail is jammed now during peak times, wait until this building opens.
