If you are heading to Disney World today, be prepared for the potential for some severe weather!
Disney World will likely be hit by severe weather today, and we have all the details you need to know.
The morning is starting off with some gusty winds in Disney World. The Disney World area is currently experiencing 15 mph winds, with gusts around 20-25 mph. These winds are ahead of a cold front moving into the area later this morning that is expected to bring showers, storms, and strong winds.
The severe weather is expected in the area beginning around 11AM and is expected to be out of the area by around 8PM. The entire Central Florida area is under a wind advisory from 10AM until 8PM.
The biggest concern right now is strong winds. There is also a potential for hail, flooding rain, and even tornadoes. A tornado watch has been issued for numerous counties in Florida. The tornado watch is not currently in effect for Disney World, which is located in Orange and Osceola County. However, if you are traveling to Disney World today, definitely be cautious and keep an eye on the weather. Also, be prepared for strong winds and storms today at Disney World.
Orlando International Airport is also being affected by the current windy conditions and may continue to see an increase in delays as the severe weather moves through the area. As of 9:15AM this morning, Orlando International Airport is already seeing 272 flight delays and 22 flight cancellations. If you are traveling through Orlando International Airport today, definitely keep a close eye on your flight for any delays or cancellations.
Be prepared for the storms by packing rain gear and some dry clothes to change into! We also recommend an extra pair of shoes. The cold front will also be bringing cooler weather this evening, so if you are headed out this evening, you may want to bring a light jacket with you as well. The temperature will drop into the 50s and 60s overnight.
Cast Members throughout Disney World are trained on how to keep guests safe during severe weather conditions. If you need to, take shelter in a gift shop or other indoor area, and make sure to listen to instructions being relayed through Cast Members or park announcements.
