We always try to give you the best and most precise advice when it comes to your Disney World trips.
Outside of giving you more immediate advice on things like crowd levels, wait times that rise and fall constantly, and keeping you posted about the latest offers that can save you money on your next visit, sometimes our advice can be a bit more lengthy. Allow us to explain.
Have you ever given someone advice only to realize that either the advice or the way you explained it just needed a little more to convey what you were trying to say? Yeah, us too! Most of the time our methods to our best tips and tricks to use around Disney World can take a little bit more explaining to truly get our point across about how it can benefit you in the long run.
Let’s take a look at 3 that we find ourselves explaining over and over again!
Take The Resort Monorail
Picture it — it’s the end of a very long, tiring day at Magic Kingdom and you’re just trying to get back to your parked car all the way out across Seven Seas Lagoon at the Transportation & Ticket Center. The only thing that stands between you and your ride outta there is a long line for the monorail.
We’re going to tell you to take the resort monorail in this situation, and you’ve just got to trust our judgement here. We KNOW this is not your hotel stop, and you’re going to make a few extra stops before landing at your ultimate destination. BUT, it will be worth it. More often than not the line for the express monorail is very long, but if you look over to the side, the resort monorail is usually much shorter.
As long as you don’t mind a few brief stops along your route, you might find it easier and quicker to hop in that line to reach your stop rather than spend more time on your (tired) feet in line.
Use Our Express Monorail Hack
This is one we constantly get weird looks over, and everyone seems to spring to ride in the center of the monorail. You’d think this is the best spot to vie for, right? WRONG!
If your ultimate goal is to get into Magic Kingdom as quickly and smoothly as possible, the monorail gate you’re looking for is alllllll the way down at the end. Thats right… we feel you staring at us right now.
This is the gate you want to walk through and board. That’s because once it reaches the Magic Kingdom station, you can head left down the stairs and make a quick and seamless bound to the turnstiles.
The Order You Make Lightning Lane Selections & Virtual Queues Matters
Your impulses could cost you so much money and time on this, so do yourself a favor and stick to a plan here! No one likes spending money for purchasing Individual Lightning Lane selections and Genie+, so if you’re not using it to its maximum potential it’s hard to justify its cost. Luckily, we’ve used them enough that we’ve developed a strategy for this.
Your first line of defense is to make a decision in advance of the 7AM opening window for which virtual queue you want to try to grab. Remember, virtual queues are free if you’re able to grab them and could save you some serious bucks by sticking to this step alone.
Once you’ve secured your VQ (and already saved yourself some money), pick the most popular attraction for your first lightning lane selection (yes, even if it’s later in the day). Most of the lines earlier in the day will be the shortest you’ll see them for the majority of the day.
So if you grab your first LL on Genie+ to ride “It’s A Small World”, you’ll have a hard time forgiving yourself if Jungle Cruise is already out of LLs for the day when you are able to make your next selection.
The last step in this strategy is to set an alarm to go off BEFORE you’re due to make your next LL! This will give you time to browse the current wait times and the return times listed in the app for each attraction, and strategize your next selection for when it opens up.
If you’re really a master at this AND you’re park hopping, you might even be able to hop AND grab a second VQ for the day when they open up at 1PM — really helping stretch that line item in your vacation budget!
Maybe Skip The Resort Refillable Mug
If this sounds off-brand for us, just stay with us here! We LOVE a Disney freebie, especially when it comes to free sodas at the Disney World hotels. We are typically HUGE advocates of taking advantage of anything that will help save you money, which is why our default answer will be YES when you ask if they’re “worth it”.
However, there are a few instances where these babies just don’t make a ton of sense for you. If you’re someone who doesn’t spend a lot of time (read that as anything more than just laying your head down to sleep and get back up again) at your Disney World hotel, this might not be of benefit to you.
And if we take that a step further and find that you’re someone who is staying at one of the Disney World hotels that are massive like Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, or Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort where getting to the refill stations could be a hike (or a literal bus ride) away, it’s probably not an option you’re going to be most enthusiastic over.
That’s ok, we’d totally understand should you decide to skip this typical money saver in these instances, but other than that, we’d HIGHLY recommend these for anyone else staying at a Disney World hotel!

I strongly disagree about the cup. We always stay at Aruba at The Caribbean and know just where the refill station is (Each ‘Village’ has a station.) We return home and are beyond hot and thirsty. Having endless free soda really hits the spot.
Also, every morning before hitting the parks we eat breakfast and drink lots of coffee/tea, etc.
And of course…great souvenirs. I still use my cup EVERYWHERE!!!
