Not one, not two, but SIX new restaurants are coming to Downtown Disney, and some of them are opening as early as NEXT MONTH!
To help you prepare for your next Disneyland trip and narrow down that list of where you want to eat while you’re there, we’re going through EVERYTHING we know about each of the six new restaurants.
Let’s start with a new BAKERY.
Porto’s Bakery and Café
Porto’s Bakery and Café is a Southern California favorite that already has six locations in the state. This spot will bring sweet pastries and savory Cuban food to Downtown Disney!
Porto’s was created due to Rosa Porto’s love of sharing her baking creations with family and friends. She was born in Cuba and grew up with her mother’s baking along with recipes that had been passed down in her family through generations.
When Rosa and her family moved to California, she made baked goods for family and friends and later opened her first bakery. Although she passed away in 2019, her legacy lives on through the popular bakeries throughout the state.
Although we don’t know the menu for the Downtown Disney location yet, current Porto’s locations have items like guava and cheese strudel (Refugiado), an array of empanadas and meat pies, croquetas, breakfast pastries and cakes, freshly baked breads, soups and salads, and more!
Paseo
Paseo is one part of a Mexican restaurant trio that’s opening in Downtown Disney in May 2024. The other two restaurants are Céntrico (the courtyard bar and restaurant) and Tiendita (a quick-service option). These are taking over the spot where Catal & Uva Bar used to be.
Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytan has created a menu of Mexican cuisine for Paseo, Centrico, and Tiendita. Paseo is the upstairs dining room (on the right in the concept art on this page) and Céntrico is a courtyard bar and restaurant (on the left).
While Céntrico will serve tequila-based cocktails and small plates, Paseo will be a full restaurant. So if you’re sad to see that Tortilla Jo’s has permanently closed, don’t worry! You’ll still be able to find great Mexican food in Downtown Disney.
Céntrico
Céntrico is going to be a courtyard bar and restaurant that offers a “high-end Mexican-inspired small plate menu” along with “tequila-based cocktails.”
Céntrico’s website states, “From the heart and mind of Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán, the Downtown Disney District’s new open-air Mexican restaurant and cantina is the perfect gathering place. At Céntrico, create memories over the vibrant flavors of outstanding specialty cocktails and authentic dishes inspired by Chef Carlos’s childhood in Mexico.”
Tiendita
Tiendita is the quick service option of the Mexican restaurant trio! It’s located on the west side of Downtown Disney, in the same area where Paseo and Céntrico will be.
The menu for Tiendita will be created by Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán (the same chef who’s creating the menus for Paseo and Céntrico). Chef Gaytán is from Mexico and plans to “offer guests a multi-sensory journey to the heart of [his] homeland.”
Tiendita will serve up “Chef Gaytán’s Mexican heritage flavors on-the-go, with quick-service Mexican street-food staples.”
Din Tai Fung
Din Tai Fung is a family-owned, award-winning restaurant that’s opening in Downtown Disney this summer. It’ll be located on the west side in what’s been called “a creative space near [the] new lawn pavilion.”
This restaurant will serve Chinese dishes family-style. Din Tai Fung is famous for its soup dumplings, which are typically hand-crafted right on-site. Currently, there are locations in Las Vegas, Costa Mesa, Oregon, Washington, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, Europe, and Thailand.
At those locations, the menu includes soups, many different flavors of dumplings and buns, wontons, noodles, fried rice, and dessert dumplings filled with chocolate, red bean paste, or sweet taro.
Din Tai Fung first opened in Taipei, Taiwan. According to the restaurant’s website, Mr. Bing-Yi Yang immigrated to Taiwan and opened a shop selling cooking oil. He named the shop Din Tai Fung. He and his wife sold dumplings in their shop as well, called Xiao Long Bao (steamed pork soup dumplings). These dumplings became so popular that Mr. Yang “phased out his oil business” and Din Tai Fung became a full-blown restaurant.
Parkside Market
The new Parkside Market area is actually FOUR restaurant locations all under one roof! This will also be located on the west side of Downtown Disney.
The first option is Seoul Sister, which will deliver a Korean-forward menu with a California twist. This location will have Asian-inspired meals primarily focused on variations of bibimbap (Korean rice bowls).
Next up is Sip & Sonder. This spot is a Black women-owned location that specializes in “signature lattes, as well as fresh treats, frozen drinks and Caribbean-inspired bites.”
The third choice is GG’s Chicken Shop! Here you can grab family-style chicken, salads, and classic dinner sides. This will be the first GG’s on the West Coast after the first brick-and-mortar opened in Chicago in 2023.
