For a lot of folks, a Disney World vacation is way more than just visiting the theme parks.
It’s also a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of regular life and have a little “me” time or family time. That means you might want to spend some time at your hotel indulging in special activities. Or maybe you want to have a little pool time. That’s all well and good, but there are two things we think Disney World pools still desperately need that could make pool time even better.
Hot tubs at the value resorts
If you’ve visited Disney World on a budget, you may have stayed in a value resort. Value resorts actually have some really nice pools with great theming (we love the Hippy Dippy Pool at Disney’s Pop Century Resort). However, one thing is missing from the pool area at value resorts: HOT TUBS.
If you want a pool with a hot tub, you won’t find it at a value resort, and that’s just sad. People staying at a value resort want to soak their aching muscles in a hot tub at the end of the day, too, Disney. So, if soaking in a hot tub is a priority for you on vacation, you’ll have to book a moderate or deluxe hotel.

Too little shade
Maybe some people want to sit out in the hot Florida sun and bake beside the pool, but that’s not us. There aren’t enough shaded areas around the pools. Would it hurt to put a few extra chairs or tables with umbrellas in your pool area, Disney? WOULD IT? Yeah, we’re throwing some shade here — figuratively and literally.
Although you might find SOME shade around the pools, those spots get taken pretty quickly. So, if you want to sit in the shade while lounging around the pool, you’ll need to get to the pool before everyone else. Those umbrella seats are hard to come by!

Like they say: You get what you paid for. I’m a Vacation Club Member at The Boardwalk. We have a “quiet” pool in addition to the main pool with a wonderful winding slide. My grandkids made me walk them up to the top at least 20 times. My muscles! There is also a small spa pool. They are not what they are cracked up to be. When I was there in March, it had been emptied and then(when filled) we had to wait for the chemicals to kick in. A lot of the time all of the little kids come in and take up the space. They sit on the stairs and I need those stairs to get out. I’m OLDER. Also the Jets were not strong at all. Maybe The Boardwalk needs a new spa pool.
We have plenty of shaded tables and lounges.

Add my vote for hot tubs at value resorts. Maybe they could set an age limit on them unless accompanied by an adult to prevent them from being taken over by rowdy kids.

What the REALLY need is a way to figure out when there are 10 people in the pool and EVERY CHAIR HAS A TOWEL ON IT.

I agree that more shade is needed. When I go to resorts in the Mediterranean, hotel pools have a parasol for every 2 sun loungers. Also, when we stayed at the Hilton at Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, the whole of the children’s pool was undercover with open sides. The sun is much fiercer in Florida. I don’t understand why they have so little cover.
