Making sure you’re capturing the memories you’re making at Disney World together can be the highlight of your vacation, and I’ve seen some very sad faces when folks realize their batteries are dying or are already completely gone.
I’ve even been met with a similar fate myself a time or two as a rookie, but I’ve learned from my mistakes. I’m willing to bet while you’ve planned the perfect vacation from tracking the wait times and crowd levels to learning all the latest tips and tricks about where you’re going to eat next there’s one crucial thing that’s slipped your mind — until it becomes a necessity and panic sets in.
Staying connected while at Disney World can be crucial, and when you’re on the verge of running out of battery (we’re talking electronically in this case), time is of the essence in making your next decision. I go to Disney World every day and can find myself in some very weird predicaments if I’m not keeping my devices charged (seriously, how quickly we get information to you depends on it)!
So take it from someone who knows Disney World like the back of their hand now, and heed my advice. Here’s where you should be on the lookout to stop the next time, you need the BEST places to charge!
Portable Chargers
Ok, call this cheating if you will, but sometimes you just have to keep moving! Whether you find yourself needing to stay in motion or already in the middle of a massive ride line, and it’s impossible to get out and to a nearby charger, this could literally make or break your next Disney World moves.
I’m a HUGE advocate for carrying around a portable charger like this one…
… or even stopping by the nearest Fuel Rod station (obviously early in your day so you’re as prepared as possible when the need arises)…
… so you’re not making any crucial missteps to drain those batteries and slow you down!
Disney Buses
While we’re talking about staying in motion there are also a few options within Disney transportation to consider. Did you know that several of the newer character-wrapped buses are set up to allow you to charge while you’re en route?
That’s right! Just take a moment when you’re boarding the bus to glance just below the seat and check to see if your bus is outfitted to allow you to charge on the go!
Connections Eatery
If you find yourself walking around the front section of EPCOT, charging your phone can be as easy as sitting down to take a break — no really, let me explain.
Stop by the seating area between Connections Cafe and Connections Eatery (and order a quick bite to snack on while you’re there) and find one of the longer white tables. There on the ends of the tables towards the center, you’ll see a wireless charging symbol that’s capable of charging your phone simply by placing it on top of there and leaving it be.
Pretty easy, right? Well, the only snag I can see you running into is when the restaurant is super busy and the seats at the tables are already taken. Then it’s time to move on to our next spot!
World Celebration Gardens
Adjacent to where you’ll already be and right within that gorgeous view of Spaceship Earth you’ll find tables and chairs set up all over World Celebration Gardens. As beautiful as this new addition to the park is, it’s also equally as functional.
Several of the seating areas are outfitted with charging stations sporting various charging ports to give you the best chance of staying connected.
CommuniCore Hall
Again, while we’re over here it’s worth mentioning that soon EPCOT will be opening their newest project, CommuniCore Hall and Plaza this coming June. While it’s already stunning on its own, it’s also pretty techy!
All of the lights that we’ve already spotted flashing around the building make us feel confident enough to say between that AND the nearby addition of chargers in World Celebration Gardens, this will be another great option for a quick stop to charge, too!
The Shared Dining Room Between Pecos Bill’s And Tortuga Tavern
This area is almost a “blink and you’ll miss it space” but it’s a great option! When you’re strolling around Adventureland and you’re really needing more battery to complete that mobile order or pick up that next Lightning Lane selection, it can be a real lifesaver!
Look for the shared space between these two restaurants for one of the most reliable chargers my colleagues and I use almost every visit we make to Magic Kingdom!
DVC Stands
It’s no secret that Disney loves to update things and enact change, so when we noticed a few new fancy Disney Vacation Club kiosks around some of the Disney World parks, we had to investigate.
Turns out, it really worked to our advantage because now I’ve found another few spaces in multiple parks to stop and charge my phone comfortably and find out about the latest updates around some of Disney World’s hotels. There’s a stand in EPCOT in World Discovery and one by Tiffins in Disney’s Animal Kingdom currently (but we wouldn’t mind seeing a few more soon)!
The Exit Of The Tower of Terror
Ok, so either you’re running an adrenaline high or took the chicken exit down to the “hotel service lobby” to wait for the latest victims (err, riders) onboard the Tower of Terror but in either case, you’ve probably not realized you’re passing up a prime charging location.
That’s right! This spot has everything I could ask for with a quick charge including seating and some killer air conditioning which I’m sure even my phone is thankful for every once in a while.
Baby Care Centers
This one’s a bit tricky because it’s kind of like a situation you’ll just have to know about in advance — but believe me, it’s totally worth committing to memory!
So if you can get past the stigma attached to the name, you’ll find yourself pleasantly surprised. Should you ever have a true need, stop on in and explain to the incredibly friendly and understanding Cast Members you’re looking for an outlet to charge your phone or device for a bit and they’ll do their best to hook you up in the best spot inside (plus, there’s some really inviting AC in here so you may not want to leave too quickly).
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
You’ve probably strolled right past this next spot, too, but your eagle-eyed reporting team knows all!
While passing through the Marketplace in Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll find a great place to charge (mostly out of the sun) near the Djarik table. Who knows — you could witness the next best card game match in all of the galaxies combined (and capture it on camera too)!
Guest Services
I hear you laughing at me already, and I can’t stress to you how serious I am about this!
Way back in the day, Disney World used to allow you to leave your phone at Guest Services to charge it and come back for it later, however, their policy has changed. When I spoke to a Cast Member working there more recently, they informed me the policy is now they will allow you to BORROW a fuel rod to charge your phone while you wait inside their building with it. Of course, you’ll be surrendering the charger afterward, but this seems like a pretty fair trade for a few minutes of your time if you’re willing to compromise and not spend money on a charger yourself!
AP Lounges
At certain times of the year, Disney World is known to set up pop-up lounges for Annual Passholders. The most recent example of this was during last year at EPCOT within The Land near Sunshine Seasons.
Here you’ll need to present your Disney World Annual Passholder card and a photo ID to be allowed in, but you’ll also get a place to charge your phone, while enjoying some complimentary snacks, drink some water, and maybe pick up an exclusive sticker too!
DVC Lounge in EPCOT
If that sounds ideal, let’s talk about a similar option. EPCOT is currently the only home to a DVC (Disney Vacation Club) lounge in Disney World. However, becuase it’s exclusive and a smaller area, it’s limited to those who are DVC owners and their guests.
All you’ll need to do to enter here is visit between its open hours and present your DVC Membership card and photo ID to be added to the waitlist. (Note there are restrictions on memberships purchased through resale so please check to make sure your membership qualifies first.)
Once it’s your turn, you’ll be directed up the stairs or elevator to the lounge space and treated to complimentary Coca-Cola Freestyle machine sodas, water, tea, and a complimentary snack. There’s another added bonus here, though! DVC will even lend you a charging cord to plug into the outlets that their tables are fitted with, making it an incredible perk for members to use at their disposal.
World Showcase Pavillions
Ok, our reporting team on occasion has really had to find a few more options in a pinch!
As you’re visiting the countries around EPCOT’s World Showcase, be sure to pop into each pavilion and see where your next best spot to charge could be waiting for you. We’re not ashamed to admit we’ve done this a time or two and lucked up on a place to charge in the China Pavilion…
… and the American Adventure pavilion exhibits.
There’s nothing wrong with lingering a bit to learn a little more culture while charging your phone, too!
Near The Rapunzel Bathrooms
This is a pretty popular location to charge in Magic Kingdom, but it can go overlooked by even the most expert Disney World visitor.
Near the Rapunzel-inspired bathrooms in Fantasyland, you’ll find a set of tables that look like they’re made out of wood. They’re not, but inside a few clever wooden stumps, you can slide the cover up to reveal a few charging outlets that are free to use. They’re also pretty quick, too! You’ll just want to be aware of the crowds here because like I said before, there’s usually a good amount of people in this area for one reason or another whether it be to stop and rest, eat, or charge.
Storybook Circus
However, if the former spot is pretty full, there’s another place we’re begging you to make your next destination! Come on over to Storybook Circus!
This is a place where everyone who comes by, figures it’s just a kiddie place to meet characters, splash around at Casey Jr.’s, and make a pit stop at the bathrooms. What they don’t know, though, is that there’s typically a pretty chill place to relax and charge underneath the tented area by the train exit. Shhh… this one can be our little secret, ok?
Hotel Lobbies
I know we said Disney World parks earlier but I feel like I can trust you now to really take my advice to heart, so we’re offering up some bonus content here. When visiting Disney World hotel lobbies, look for opportunities to charge your devices here.
Several lobbies now have either new seating or newer tables and stands that are high-tech enough to allow you to charge while you’re sitting (possibly napping), and/or waiting on your room, your bus, or anything in between.
Disney World Hotel Lounges
That’s not the only place you’ll want to check though at the hotels. Disney lounges can be your next best (charging) friend in these instances.
The Ale & Compass Lounge is a personal favorite which has outlets to charge while you recharge with a quick bite as well!
So that’s it — there’s mine and my team’s best-kept charging secrets and now they’re yours to impress your friends and family with on your next Disney World trip.
