An age-old debate among Disney World visitors is if it’s really WORTH IT to stay at one of Disney World’s hotels.

There are tons of perks to staying on-property, from proximity to the parks to eligibility for the Disney Dining Plan. However, there’s another perk that people either don’t know or forget about in the midst of all the other planning. You can find it on your phone — in the My Disney Experience app. Let’s talk about it!
Did you know that you can get discounted MagicBands from the Disney World app if you’ve got an upcoming trip and are staying at a Disney World hotel? Yes! And we’re going to show you how to access those discounts.
First, you’ll want to get logged in on the My Disney Experience app and head to the hamburger icon in the bottom right corner of the page. From there, you can scroll down to a spot that says “MagicBands and Cards.”

If you click on that, it’ll take you to a screen with further options listed. You can select “Discover More with MagicBand+.”

If you have a stay at a Disney World hotel coming up, you can ” browse the latest online” and see some discounted options.

Having a MagicBand totally isn’t required for a Disney World trip. You can always opt to use a basic ticket card or set up MagicMobile to scan in to experiences using your phone or smart watch.

The regular MagicBands are few and far between these days. It looks like Disney is phasing them out in favor of the MagicBand+.
Great little perk, HOWEVER…not valid for those coming from outside the continental US. We recently stayed at Port Orleans. As our residence is in Canada, we could not take advantage of this discount. A 10 day stay at Disneyworld is expensive enough and every little perk/discount helps. Sad that Disney cannot fix this issue.
