It’s a great time to be a Disney World fan thanks to all the exciting new things happening all around the resort!
EPCOT
New hotel updates are coming to the Polynesian Village Resort, and new restaurants are popping up soon at the BoardWalk Inn, too. Not only that, but Disney announced that a popular EPCOT ride — Test Track — would be reimagined later this summer. And now, we’ve got a major update on the project!
We’re always on the hunt for the latest permits filed by Disney to get an idea of what sort of changes might be coming to the parks, and this latest permit we found has us pretty darn excited! A while back, Disney announced that Test Track in EPCOT would be reimagined into a somewhat new ride, and it looks like the very first permit has been filed!

Disney World filed a permit for “general construction” Test Track on April 12th, and while general construction can really mean anything — it does mean that work will be getting started here soon! We know that the ride will be closing on June 17th so Disney can get to work on the refurbishment, but up until now, we didn’t have any clue as to when the ride might reopen.
Test Track
The permit has an expiration date of February 28th, 2025. This is interesting because typically, permits automatically expire one year from the date filed unless otherwise specified — which means Disney is expecting this work to be done before then. It doesn’t necessarily mean Test Track will reopen come March 2025, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for updates.
Not only that, but the contractor listed on the permit is Coastal Steel, Inc. — a company that has worked on other major projects for Disney including Mission SPACE, Expedition Everest, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and more!

Disney hasn’t released too many details about what the ride experience will be like just yet, but, they did mention that it will take inspiration from World of Motion, the ride that was originally there when the park opened in 1982! We can’t wait to experience this reimagined ride.

Test Track is one of my favorite rides. Probably because I am so bad at designing my ride vehicle. Thank goodness I usually have a child planning with me lol. The auto industry suffers no threat from me in the auto design department. It will be interesting to see how it gets re-imagined.
