Animal Kingdom offers some of the best quick service snack options in Disney World… if you manage to snag them at the right time, that is.
While Animal Kingdom’s culinary offerings don’t necessarily receive the same praise as their counterparts in other parks, it’s undeniable that many are equal to — if not surpassing — them. That may partially be because some of Animal Kingdom’s best quick service snacks are only available for a few hours a day. If you’re not careful about when you visit these snack stands in Animal Kingdom, you might totally MISS some of the best snacks in the park! DISASTER! Luckily, we’ve got all the info you need to avoid this potential catastrophe.
Animal Kingdom’s hours as a whole are vastly different from Walt Disney World’s other theme parks due to the needs of the animals. Animal Kingdom usually opens up to an hour earlier than the other parks — and closes early, as well. That trickles down to the hours of some of the restaurants, shops, and quick service locations in the park.
Some of the snack stands in Animal Kingdom are only open five or six hours a day, and we don’t want you to miss out on the great eats there. So we’re bringing you a look at which snack stands you need to hit up — and when you should plan them into your visit!
Terra Treats
Terra Treats, located in the Discovery Island area of the park, offers three pizza slice options: Tomato and Cheese, Pepperoni and Cheese, and Buffalo Chicken. However, if you have a hankering for one, you have to move quickly at lunchtime, as Disney currently states the location is only open from 11AM until 2:30PM.
Now here’s the thing — there’s a lot of *not great* pizza in Disney World. But we promise the pizza here isn’t of the divisive “puffy” variety. Here you’ll find a chewy crust with a crisp bottom and ample toppings. We like the pizza here!
Harambe Market
Located in the African section of Animal Kingdom, Harambe Market has a distinct menu of rice bowls, with ingredients including chicken, shrimp, lamb, and beef, and a popular beff and lamb pita. In addition, the location offers plant-based as well as gluten and egg-allergy friendly options. It’s only open from 10:45 in the morning until 3:15 in the afternoon though.
You’ll also find grilled corn on the cob here.
Smiling Crocodile
The Smiling Crocodile – located in the Discovery Island section of the park – offers guests the chance to “chomp on croco-licious dishes sure to tame ferocious appetites!” The menu currently includes a selection of tacos including pulled pork, street corn, and roasted chicken. The location is only open from 11AM until 3PM.
This is a great spot for lunch on a budget — and you can usually find seating near Flame Tree Barbecue!
Caravan Road
So, Caravan Road may be a slight cheat. The Asia-based location is currently listed as being open from 11AM until 5PM, which is a much larger portion of Animal Kingdom’s operating day than the other locations we’ve listed. However, we’ve included it because the location’s delicious shaved ice offerings – with flavors including Watermelon, Kakigori, Mango Passion Fruit, Piña Colada, and Tropical Slushy – make a perfect end-of-park day treat.
However, the 5PM closure means that many Animal Kingdom visitors aren’t ready to leave yet, so hustle on over there if you’re wanting one of these before you leave.
All of these Animal Kingdom treats are worth seeing out if you’re looking for a delicious snack, just make sure you’re on time! Stay tuned to DFB for allllllll the Disney snacks!
