Few things are as utterly disappointing as getting up to the McDonald’s drive-thru speaker, ordering yourself a frosty cone, and being told that their ice cream machine is broken.

It’s a phenomenon that plagues McDonald’s locations all across the United States, garnering much attention on the internet with people wondering if it’s all just a big conspiracy. Well, the conspiracy only grows because the McDonald’s ice cream machine curse is now plaguing Disney World.
We hope you weren’t planning on getting ice cream at Epic Eats in Hollywood Studios today! When we stopped by, we noticed that there was a makeshift sign posted up out front of the ordering window, so we had to investigate. To our surprise, we saw that they were completely out of ice cream at this spot! You can typically find soft-serve and root beer floats here, but not today.
Oh no!
We asked the Cast Members who were working at Epic Eats what was going on, and they told us that the ice cream machine was broken! They were hopeful it would be up and running again soon, but for now, you’ll have to find ice cream somewhere else. You can head over to Hollywood Scoops or Dinosaur Gerties to get your fix!
No ice cream today.
We went back to check a little bit later to see if the ice cream machine had been fixed, but sadly, it was still broken. We’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this and will let you know of any changes!

Back in the day when I worked at McDonald’s, the ice cream and shake machines were never broken close to closing time. The managers were under pressure to close and clock out employees on time.
Those machines took a long time to clean, so they just told customers that they were broken so that they could start cleaning them early and finish up on time.
