Disney Springs is home to over 50 restaurants, 50+ shopping locations, and so much more.
It really is a great place to spend a chill evening in Disney World! And that means that this area can get PACKED often, especially on certain nights. If you’re headed to Disney World within the next few months, here are some dates you’ll want to AVOID Disney Springs and all the crowds packed inside.
runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend
From April 18th-21st, TONS of Disney World lovers will descend on the parks and Disney Springs for the upcoming runDisney event, Springtime Surprise Weekend.
While crowds may not be very heavy in the early morning (since the runners will be running), as the day progresses, crowds will likely get larger and larger until they’re at their peak in the evening. Be aware if you’re planning to grab dinner in the area that night!
Cheerleading and Dance Competitions
Disney World often hosts many sports competitions and events on property, usually at ESPN Wide World of Sports. But those crowds very quickly spread to all other areas of the resort, including Disney Springs.
Again, these are often especially noticeable in the evenings after the parks close for the night, specifically for college-level competitions. Notable events coming up you’ll want to expect crowds for are:
- ICU Junior World and World Cheerleading Championships (April 24th-26th)
- The Cheerleading Worlds and The Dance Worlds championship events (April 26th-28th)
- Summit 2024 Cheerleading Championship (May 2nd-5th)
- Summit 2024 Dance Championship (May 3rd-5th)
- The D2 Summit (May 10th-12th)
Again, if you’re looking to get a dining reservation or hang out in the area on these nights, be sure to grab parking early!
Cinco de Mayo
This next date has nothing to do with outside visitors to the area, but more with Orlando locals! Who wouldn’t want to spend Cinco de Mayo in Disney Springs? Exactly.
If you’re planning on grabbing a meal at a table service restaurant to celebrate, be sure you grab a reservation ASAP, because many restaurants are sure to fill up fast. There are always quick service spots you can grab a bite from, but if that wasn’t your original plan, you may find yourself a little jaded, and no one wants that!
Mother’s Day/Father’s Day
Both Mother’s and Father’s Day are right around the corner, and if you’re planning a nice dinner out in Disney Springs to celebrate, keep in mind that hundreds of your closest friends may have the same idea.
Again, the same principle from above applies here — just grab those reservations sooner rather than later, and be sure you park in the parking deck early to avoid that panic of circling the decks over and over trying to find a spot as your reservation time inches closer and closer.
4th of July
The next major holiday we have coming up is Independence Day on July 4th, and we just KNOW Disney Springs is going to be packed.
Yes, the 4th of July falls in the middle of the week this year, but many companies will still give their employees the holiday off, and perhaps even the days surrounding it, so we’re expecting Disney Springs to be pretty packed the day of. We think heading to Disney Springs is still a fantastic way to celebrate, but just anticipate the crowds ahead of time!
We’re always here to help you prepare for your next Disney World trip, so stay tuned to DFB for all the latest news and updates!
