How do you think the abundance of streaming platforms affects TV channels and broadcast networks?
In the past decade, we’ve really seen the streaming business take off, with everything from Netflix to HBO Max to Disney+. It seems like everybody has a streaming service nowadays! It’s challenging to know if this streaming surge has a direct effect on prime-time television, but now a major network is canceling some of its shows.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS has announced its show cancelations for the spring season. Both So Help Me Todd and CSI: Vegas will not be returning for subsequent seasons.
Both shows average a little over 6 million views per episode in the Nielsen ratings. They will join Young Sheldon and Bob Hearts Abishola in leaving CBS at the end of this season. Blue Bloods will air its final episodes in the fall.
Having 6 million viewers per episode may seem like great numbers, but since CBS has 12 of the top 15 scripted TV shows right now, the standards are pretty high for that channel in particular. The network has multiple dramas slated to premiere in the 2024-2025 season that will replace these other shows.

I watch So Help Me Todd and love it! So sad that CBS cancelled it.

So Help me Todd is a great show! And Blue Bloods also… both with great family dynamics. Hopefully another channel will pick them up. I don’t have to watch CBS.

Season 2 of “So Help Me Todd” hasn’t started here in the UK yet so I’ll make sure that I cherish every episode when it arrives.
Just before the first series was shown here I read a magazine article saying how clever it was that Alibi (the channel it was shown on) had bought it, as a second series had already started filming because it was so popular.

CSI Vegas and NCIS Hawaii I enjoyed both. They were both action packed and had you waiting to see what would happen next
Kim says
So Help me Todd should not be canceled. To good of a show.
