Happy Earth Day! We are over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom today to see what kind of festivities are happening.
Last year, Earth Day also happened to be the 25th Anniversary of Animal Kingdom, so the park went all out in celebration! Let’s see what Animal Kingdom is up to this year!
While we know Earth Day 2024 likely would not compare to last year’s 25th Anniversary Celebration and Earth Day combo, we did have hopes of finding a few rare characters throughout the park. We have been in Animal Kingdom all morning long, and so far, we have spotted a Brother Bear Floatilla featuring Koda and Kenai. They were looking absolutely adorable on their boat, and we loved seeing them!
We also spotted Max and Goofy hanging out! Goofy was wearing an adorable adventurer outfit that was perfect for Earth Day. Hey there Max and Goofy!

However, they are the only special characters we have spotted today. Judy and Nick from Zootopia were spotted meeting yesterday, but so far, we have not seen them out in the park. A cast member we spoke with said that they did not expect that Judy and Nick would be meeting today. We are keeping our eyes peeled today for special appearances, and we are also hoping to catch DiVine while she is out. In past years, DiVine has been seen covered in beautiful flowers and we are hoping she is wearing something similar this year.
Last year, we found lots of rare characters in the parks including Baloo and King Louie, Tinkerbell and Fawn, Princess Atta, and Jane and Terk.
While we definitely wished there were some more characters in Animal Kingdom for Earth Day, we are still having plenty of fun! We spotted Kevin roaming around this morning, which always makes for a good day. You can catch Kevin at Animal Kingdom normally, but it is always so fun running into her in the park.
Just look at how precious she is! While she may not be a rare character, she definitely made us smile today and we always get excited to see Kevin.

It’s fascinating to read about your Earth Day experiences at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, especially with the anticipation of encountering rare characters. While it’s a tad disappointing to not see as many special appearances as last year, the sighting of Koda and Kenai on the Brother Bear Floatilla certainly adds a unique charm to the celebration. It’s a reminder of the unpredictable nature of theme park adventures and the joy in appreciating the moments we get. Here’s hoping that future visits surprise us with even more delightful encounters.
