We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we had a feeling this morning that crowds were back at Disney World.
In late-March and early-April, we saw an influx of crowds as spring breakers took over the parks. They slowly dwindled, and all was righted as we had a respite from the intense crowds for a few weeks. Are those crowds BACK?!
While the spring break season is over for many schools in the southeast as well as colleges across the country, several schools up north and in the midwest are now taking their turn at spring break! As a matter of fact, our reporters ran into several spring breakers that were visiting rom New York.
We were worried we might be seeing a second wave of spring breakers on April 23rd before we even arrived to the parks. Genie+ prices were the same as they’ve been the past few days, park pass reservations were available, but once we were arriving to the Magic Kingdom parking lot, we felt like we were in for a busy day. The cars were backed up before we even entered the lot!
Of course, the lines for security at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) were long as well. When you park at Magic Kingdom, you must then walk to or board a tram to the TTC so that you can take either the Monorail or a ferry boat to the park. Before you can board either of those, you’ll have to go through the security lines. It’s unavoidable! Luckily, the security guards are great at what they do and get everyone in and out relatively quickly.
When we got to Magic Kingdom, the crowds had thankfully dispersed a bit…which seemed strange.
As a matter of fact, things seemed relatively calm everywhere in the park! TRON Lightcycle / Run hadn’t yet run out of Lightning Lanes, which is pretty incredible considering those usually sell out pretty quickly. Did those morning crowds TRICK US?
It seems that that might be the case! This happens sometimes! There are some days when park transportation and the park entrances are pretty backed up, but then we’re greeted by a gloriously empty park.
The only bad news is that Seven Dwarfs Mine Train WAS sold out of Individual Lightning Lanes, as well as a few other high ticket attractions across property, like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Avatar: Flight of Passage. Genie+ (Disney’s paid all-day skip-the-line service) was sold out for Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Test Track, and Slinky Dog Dash. These are some of the most popular attractions in all of Disney World, though, so these selling out isn’t necessarily indicitive of super high crowds.
Whew! We have a feeling that the crowds could start to go back up again for a brief period before schools are back in session to wrap up the last few weeks before summer break, but we have our fingers crossed that those crowds won’t be as bad as they were in early spring.

Worked at Creations yesterday(4/24) and was surprised that we were not overly busy. Might be the calm before the summer storm!
