There is just so much to see and do in Disney World.
Just in Magic Kingdom alone, you’ve got a ton of rides, a parade, nighttime fireworks, shows, and other experiences that make your Disney World trip that much more special. But two RARE events occur in Magic Kingdom every year, and if you don’t want to miss those in 2025, keep reading!
The first event happens every year on November 18th, which is a very special day because it’s Mickey and Minnie’s birthday. On that day, a very special hidden Mickey and Minnie appears — and it only appears once a year. You’ll need to get into the queue for Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid at around noon to witness this grand event.
During that time, the rock formations around the ride’s queue area line up perfectly with the sun’s position to project a Mickey and Minnie shadow on the wall. Usually, you’ll find that Cast Members will have a separate area for those in the ride’s queue and those who just want to see the shadow Mickey and Minnie. This is what it looks like:
The next event happens a little earlier in the year, usually around the third Saturday in May, which is Armed Forces Day. Now, we will warn you this doesn’t always happen, but we’ve often had a chance to see the U.S. Navy Blue Angels fly over Cinderella Castle. We have to warn you that Disney has not promised that we’ll see the Blue Angels in 2025, so you’ll have to keep an eye out for an announcement.
However, you may be able to catch the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds in late October or early November in honor of National Veterans and Military Families Month, which is in November.
So if you’d like to see two very special and rare things in Magic Kingdom, you’ll want to book your trip for around those dates.

I have been lucky to see the Thunderbirds twice. In 2020 outside of the main skyliner hub and last year in the Jungle Cruise que.
