It’s no secret that Disney World is changing constantly, but usually, that means they’re hard at work making improvements.
We’ve seen quite a few changes come to EPCOT lately, and over in Magic Kingdom, the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride should be opening soon! Disney has been working on some hotel refurbishments as well, and now another one will be joining that list.
Heads up if you’re planning a Disney World vacation for late 2024 or 2025 — Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is set to undergo a lengthy refurbishment that will last for one whole year!
According to the Disney World website, the refurbishment will last from September 2024 to September 2025, but that is always subject to change. And, while the resort will still be available to book during these times, rooms may be limited. Disney also warns that guests will see and hear construction work throughout Bay Lake Tower. You’ll also want to allow extra time for travel as the typical routes may not be open.
Disney hasn’t announced what this refurbishment entails or just how involved the renovations will be, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for any more details. Bay Lake Tower is the Disney Vacation Club tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort just outside Magic Kingdom. But, you don’t need to be a DVC Member to stay there!

I haven’t stayed there myself, but we had dinner there and visited friends staying there. They are DVC members. It is very- sterile, like a hospital. The food court was the least appealing of any I have ever been to. We were able to see the fireworks from their room, which was incredible. There are pros and cons of all the resorts I’m sure.
BARRY MOSS says
If most of the rooms are unavailable, I wonder how DVC will accommodate BLT owners looking to use their points?
Tracy says
I’ve stayed at Bay Lake Tower and really liked it. I’d definitely stay there again. My one wish for the refurb is that they replace all of the sofa beds with Murphy beds – so much more comfortable and much easier to open.

OH Tracy I very much hope that the Murphy beds are coming to Bay Lake Tower. As a DVC member I have slept on those sofa beds many times and they are none to comfortable.I’m hoping AK’s two Resorts on the work list for 2025 and they change the sofa beds there.Believe it or not the ones at Bay Lake Tower are about 1/2 step better than AK.Which is also my home resort.
Carol says
I stayed there a couple of years ago. It was nice, but looking a little tired. I have to agree with Tracy that they need to replace the sofa beds with the new Murphy beds! I was the one who slept on that thing during our stay, and it was awful!
Natalie says
Barry Moss, they can use their points at other resorts. They just can’t book as early.
