No one themes a bar like Disney!
From the Star Wars-themed Oga’s Cantina to the NEW Pirates of the Caribbean Tavern coming to Disney World, Disney knows how to transport you to another world in its lounges! And NOW, we’ve got new details about what could be the most highly anticipated Disney lounge EVER! Let’s get into it!
When the Disney Treasure cruise ship sets sail later this year, it will have a Haunted Mansion lounge! That’s right — the classic Disney ride is coming to the high seas. Check out the hitchhiking ghosts behind the bar!
Ghost Fish Aquarium
We’re learning more about the backstory of the bar — which legend has it was owned by a former sea captain. He was last seen headed to have dinner with his bride, but they vanished! All that remained was his hat, which was founding floating in this ghost fish aquarium.
What the heck is a ghost fish aquarium?!? I AM HERE FOR IT!!!
A few things we noticed about this concept art that’s super cool: The aquarium seems to be filled with algae, so someone’s not keeping up their end of the bargain with cleaning OBVI LOL! Also, if you look very closely, you can see the captain’s hat decaying inside… .
Eerie Portrait Gallery
And we’re getting a look at some portraits that will hang in the Haunted Mansion Lounge. There’s The Captain, who we’ve seen previously (in his living, mortal form)… .
…and the Mariner Ghost. This guy’s portrait also hangs in the Haunted Mansions at both Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland.
And then, Disney gave us a big clue at some special effects in the lounge. Check out this portrait of The Bride, dressed in her wedding gown and holding her wedding flowers. The Captain found his bride-to-be when he answered a distress call from another vessel. When he arrived she was the lone survivor of the shipwreck.
But there’s a second portrait of this beauty…and she’s changed. Is she a sea monster? A mermaid? And those flowers in her hand…were they concealing an ax?!
Disney says her portrait will flicker — revealing her true essence, just like the portraits inside the Haunted Mansion attractions.
Tiki Mugs
Disney also released some concept art for specialty Tiki Mugs featuring some of the characters in the lounge! Here’s The Bride…
…and the Mariner Ghost!
These ceramic mugs will look like they are “carved from the worn wooden planks of a ghost ship,” Disney says. They will be the first in a series of mugs released on the ship. We cannot wait to experience the Haunted Mansion Lounge on board the Disney Treasure!
