The Disneyland Resort you know and love will CHANGE in some pretty big ways over the next several years.
Right now, Disney is actively working on a project they’ve called “DisneylandForward.” Basically, the goal is to update certain building guidelines (by working with the City of Anaheim and the local community) so Disney can have more flexibility for future projects. Disney has already noted that they’re committed to spending $1.9 BILLION over the next 10 years under this proposal, which could lead to more park attractions, dining locations, stores, and hotels. And now, something HUGE has happened!
On May 7th, 2024, a historic vote was made by the Anaheim City Council to officially APPROVE the DisneylandForward project! This means that Disneyland can begin to build new experiences for fans, create over 4,500 new jobs in the parks and over 9,000 new jobs in construction in the first 10 years, and bring new revenue to Anaheim.
Again, for general context, DisneylandForward is a multi-year expansion and redesign project that would allow for extra theme park development and expand the resort’s lodging, retail, parking, and dining options, all thanks to some adjustments with the current regulations governing development at Disneyland Resort.
All in all, it’ll be a 40-year-long project. Not a lot has been officially confirmed for Disneyland Resort in terms of future changes. Disney has mentioned that they would use DisneylandForward to enhance parking for both guests and cast members while adding a new transportation center.
Disney has also proposed projects themed after Coco, Black Panther, Tangled, Frozen, Zootopia, Peter Pan, Tron, and Toy Story. In discussing DisneylandForward, Disney has (in the past) referenced some of the lands in its international parks, such as Zootopia Land at Shanghai Disney Resort, the World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland, and Rapunzel’s Forest opening Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea on June 6th.
Included in this expansion will be benefits for the residents of Anaheim, including $30 million for affordable housing, $8 million for parks, $85 million in traffic improvements and pedestrian safety, and continued investment in workforce development programs. We can’t wait to see what this expansion will look like when it really gets going, so stay tuned to DFB for all the latest news!

Ronjon says
If little Ronnie wasn’t trying to so much of a Dictator, Florida could have gotten a bigger piece of the Disney pie. Instead, Orlando is getting far less for expansion and improvements.
As for now, Disney doesn’t want to invest money where they’re not wanted and disliked. Hopefully once little Mussolini terms out, Disney will focus more on Orlando.
