I don’t know about you, but we love some Disney World restaurants ’round these parts!
There are so many to choose from between all the quick service and table service restaurants, but there’s one specific kind we’ve just got to talk about — Disney World buffets. Now, we know you do your due diligence when planning out your trips to Disney World, but we want to go over some tips that show you’re a seasoned pro and help you avoid rookie mistakes!
Buffets at Disney World can be a delicious way to fuel your adventures, but to truly master the Disney buffet experience, there’s a bit of an art to it! Here are some tips that show you’re a true buffet pro:
Be a Buffet Boss
Scout It Out
Before you grab a plate with the quickness and start piling it high, take a scouting lap around the entire buffet. This will give you a chance to see what’s offered, from savory delights to decadent desserts.
This way, you can strategize your approach. Maybe there’s a carving station you just absolutely have to try or a unique appetizer you wouldn’t want to miss.
Pace Yourself Like a Pro
As we were saying, just because everything looks so delicious, you’re going to want to resist the urge to pile everything on your plate. Remember, “all-you-care-to-enjoy” means just that. You’re there to be strategic and enjoy everything you can!
Start with smaller portions so you can try a wider variety of dishes without getting overwhelmed. Think of it like a multi-course meal — lighter fare first, then move on to those main courses, and finally, the grand finale of desserts.
Dessert Deserves Dedication
Disney buffets aren’t just about the food. They also have some pretty incredible desserts too!
You’re going to want to plan accordingly. Don’t fill yourself up on carbs and sides early on so you can have that sweet treat you’ve been eyeing!
Characters and Cusine
If you’re eating at a character dining experience, you’re going to want to be strategic! Plan your trips to the buffet around character greetings.
This way you’ll have plenty of time with the characters and enjoy your food without feeling rushed.
Free for the Little Ones
Don’t forget, your kiddos under 3 can eat for free at buffets! Be sure to let the Cast Member know if anyone in your party is under 3 years old.
However, there is a catch — you will need to serve food to that child from your own plate. But they still get to eat free, and you’ll save some money in the process!
Sharing is Caring
Did you know that adults can absolutely enjoy the kid’s buffet too?
Sometimes, the kid’s menu offers hidden gems like mac and cheese or comforting chicken nuggets. Plus, sharing portions can help you save room for more variety on the adult buffet.
It’s About Timing
Consider skipping breakfast and having an early lunch buffet instead. You’ll likely be fuller for longer throughout the day, maximizing your value.
Also, if you time it just right, and you make your buffet reservation right around the time between breakfast and lunch, you might end up with both breakfast and lunch at the buffet stations! (And who doesn’t love the best of both worlds?)
