Disney is in the process of creating a WHOLE new set of Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas at the Polynesian Resort, and we’ve been following the construction of the project since it began.
The new villas are set to open later this year, but Disney hadn’t yet shared an official opening timeline — until now. Not only that, but we also just got a NEW look and more details about this new hotel expansion — so let’s dive in!
The NEW Polynesian DVC Villas — which Disney is calling Island Tower — are being built on the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon, offering waterfront views. We can imagine that those staying in the new villas will have AMAZING views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. And, Disney recently shared that the villas will be opening in December 2024 — so mark your calendars!
Disney also shared an updated look at Island Tower, which will “complete the vision created by Disney Imagineers decades ago while embracing the rich culture from the Polynesian Islands.” Disney also promises, “When you arrive at Island Tower, you will notice beautiful designs created exclusively for the exterior, including a gorgeous Manta Ray that symbolizes freedom, protection and grace.”
As you enter the lobby, you’ll notice “an art panel installation on the ceiling inspired by several Polynesian Islands, showcasing wildlife native to each locale.”
Disney shared that Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will include a variety of room types that will sleep from two to nine guests, like duo studios, spacious one- and two-bedroom villas, and brand-new two-bedroom penthouse villas.
If you’re curious about booking, here are some important dates to keep in mind:
- June 4: Disney Vacation Club members can make early rental reservations by contacting Member Services at (800) 800-9800. Disney Vacation Club members will be able to make points-based reservations at a later date.

I’m sorry, but this is so uninspired. It looks like any other modern hotel lobby.

No, I won’t be making a reservation. Disney took a beautiful, wonderful resort – The Polynesian Village Resort – and destroyed it by building this monstrosity. How sad!!
Robin G says
This is my favorite resort at Disney so I was really excited to see it was adding rooms. Unfortunately, this design could be any hotel anywhere. Where was the architecture people who designed the Animal Kingdom lodge or Wilderness Lodge? It certainly looks nothing like Polynesia.
Janice says
So, no 3-bedroom grand villas?
Bob C says
Something doesn’t sound right. Isn’t the Poly Towers supposed to be a DVC resort? So why is June 4th a date for members to make Rentals but have to wait a later date to book with points? It sound like DVC members are being charged for renting a DVC resort!

I miss the Luau. Disney made a mistake by getting rid of that experience. Now when I want a Luau, outside of Hawaii, I go to Universal’s property at the Loew’s Royal Pacific Resort.

Just another reason to begging to experience Universal. Loyal Disney guests are just not impressed with the Bob Iger era at Disney. Too many mis-que’s.
