Well, at least we’re talking about everyone’s favorite boy band from Turning Red, one of many beloved Pixar films being celebrated during Disneyland Resort’s Pixar Fest! Now, you may be wondering what the hitmakers behind “U Know What’s Up” have to do with a food review, so let me tell you: Robaire, Jesse, Tae Young, Aaron Z., and Aaron T. are the inspiration behind 4*Town Fav*4*ites Inspired by Turning Red, which is one of six brand new Food Booths at Disney California Adventure for this year’s Pixar Fest!

As an all-new Pixar Fest Booth, 4*Town Fav*4*ites has arrived with a menu of all-new items they hope will become big hits! The Red Panda Bao and Panda Apocalypse make up the food menu, while the Nobody Like U Cooler offers guests a non-alcoholic beverage option.

Eats
The Red Panda Bao is a jumbo pork and vegetable stuffed bao with chile-garlic sauce, and it is priced at $9.
If you’ve seen Turning Red, you’ll recognize the inspiration behind this item, as Mei Lee transforms into a red panda in moments when she experiences a strong emotion. We were surprised that this bao was actually pretty spicy! Mei Lee is definitely harnessing her strong emotions in the spice of this dish. We thought the bao bun was cooked to perfection, and the sauce had lots of great garlic flavor. But the sauce is not for the faint of heart, it packs a punch. The pork inside was tender and flavorful, and the vegetables added a great earthy flavor. Overall, we really liked this bao, but it would not be a good option if you do not like spicy foods.
So what, exactly, is the Panda Apocalypse? This sweet treat features layers of chocolate chunk brownie and New York-style Cheesecake topped with orange and red cream cheese frosting. It costs $6.75.
First of all, this dessert had PLENTY of frosting. Like so much frosting that it ended up being way too much frosting. While the frosting was a sweet, pleasant cream cheese flavor, there was just way too much of it. The cheesecake was light and tasty, but it was really hard to taste amongst the oodles of frosting. The brownie was pretty thin at the very bottom. It had a nice, rich taste, but it was hard to get at the very bottom. The flavors all worked well together, but we just wish there was less frosting and everything was a bit more dispersed.
Now, let’s head over to the drink!
Drinks
As for something to sip, 4*Town Fav*4*ites is serving up the Nobody Like U Cooler. This non-alcoholic beverage features Joffrey’s Raspberry Rose Tea with white cranberry, lime, and orange juice, along with cherry syrup. It’s all garnished with an orange wedge gummy candy and costs $7.50.
And if you don’t already have the song that inspires this item running through your head…well, allow me to change that for you, shall I? C’mon, sing it with me…you know you want to! “I’ve never met Nobody Like U… You’re never not on my mind, oh my, oh my… I’m never not by your side, your side, your side… I’m never gon’ let you cry, oh, cry, don’t cry… I’ll never not be your ride or die, alright!”
Whew! Okay, with that out of the way…this drink is essentially liquid candy. It is fruity, sweet, and sugary and guaranteed to give you a sugar rush. If you like drinking your candy, you will probably love this drink, but otherwise, it is a sugar paradise. Orange is the most prominent flavor in this drink (or sugar, if you count that as a flavor.) If you decide to get this drink, our one piece of advice is to eat the candy fast! Ours split and fell off within about 30 seconds, so yes, it is conspicuously missing from the close-ups of the drink.
OVERALL
We definitely know where all the red food coloring is at the Pixar Fest! Overall, our favorite item at this booth was the Red Panda Bao. We loved the filling, and the bun was cooked perfectly, although this one is very spicy! The Panda Apocalypse was decent but had way too much frosting on it. The elements were good separately but were just not in the right proportions together. The Nobody Like U Cooler had plenty of sugar with a prominent orange flavor. This is perfect if you are looking for a very sweet drink to help cool off with. We loved that you could see the theming really come through at this booth, and there was no lack of red! This may not be our favorite booth at the Fest, but it is definitely worth stopping by.
