We talk all the time about how buying the right shoes for Disney World is of UTMOST importance.
And that’s because it’s TRUE. We’ve heard countless stories about how not wearing the right shoes was incredibly detrimental to our readers’ trips, whether it’s because they bought new shoes and didn’t break them in before the trip, or just brought the wrong shoes. If you’re looking for shoes that 100% won’t let you down, it’s time to grab some Hokas!
Now, we don’t say this lightly. Not only have we paid close attention to what our readers have told us, but we asked our own team what shoes they adore for Disney World, and Hokas were the answer! Not only do quite a few of us wear these but you are going to see people all throughout the parks wearing these. On top of that, they are trendy, come in fun colors, are comfortable, and will last you a long time.
HOKA ONE ONE Shoes Are Seriously Incredible
For the women out there, we recommend the HOKA ONE ONE Women’s Sneakers. When we asked our team what was so special about them, and one of our team members shared that she LOVES the cushion they have. In her words “it’s like walking on a cloud.”
Men Can Grab Some HOKA ONE ONE’s Too!
And the SAME type of shoe is available for the men out there! HOKA ONE ONE Men’s Gymnastics Shoes can be used for any physical activity, so don’t be fooled by the name. Another one of our team members shared that they wore Hokas the entire they were a Cast Member, and never had sore feet after 8-10 hour shifts!
While these are the shoes we recommend, that doesn’t mean there aren’t other, slightly more affordable, options out there! We suggest heading to a shoe store in person and trying them on to see what feels comfortable to you. We’re always here to give you our help if you’re not sure where to start though, so stay tuned to DFB!

Asics Nimbus 25 or 26 is a must! Best cushioned shoe ever! When we go to Disney we see a lot of Asics Shoes!

I have the unique problem of very small feet – woman’s size 4- and wide. I can fit into some size 5 but I may have to add padding to the heel. I usually have to buy kids shoes. I choosy lightweight hiking boots – they’re sturdy, give support to arches and ankles, breathable and waterproof. Brand I’ve had success with are HiTech, Merrill, and REI depending on style/fit

Adidas or Nike Airs
Find the shoe that fits you best. It’s worth it, to get great fitting shoes. Take breaks during the day, increase step count before my trip.

How do they do in the rain?

A lot of people need to realize Hoka’s are not for everyone with the rolling footbed they can cause problems with those that have instability and balance issues. Not that they are uncomfortable but they can cause other problems, anyone considering a good shoe should always go to an athletic footwear store and be properly fitted for the shoe that works best for them and not follow a trend.

There is nothing like Hokas, is like walking on clouds (literally) I’ve use the Bondi 7 and the 8 as well and they are great, last year we went to Disney World for 5 days and walked around 23,000 steps a day and I had 0 blisters and my feet barely hurt at the end of our trip. I can’t recommend them enough.

I’ve tried on Hokas, I was really interested in them especially seeing so many people wearing them at the parks. But I found on cloud are so comfortable and very similar I guess. They’re so light and it truly feels like you’re walking on a cloud.

I wore Hokas a few years ago to a Star Wars weekend and the heat that day on the pavement at Studios started melting the bottom of the shoes while watching one of the Star Wars shows near the Chinese Theatre. It basically sunburned the bottom of my foot. I gave up on that brand that day and went back to Ascics. Maybe they are better now but that stunk, literally.

I bought a pair of $150 HOKAs a few years ago and they took almost a month for me to break in. The area around the ankles started to rip in the first year. Was not impressed with them honestly. Last year I bought a pair of Brooks Ghost Max and the second I put them on they made my feet felt like they were sitting on pillows, no break-in tone needed at all and they are still like new. Yes they were $140 but worth it, Hoka for me not even worth $50 and they were $10 more than the Brooks pair. At the end of a 10 hour park day my feet felt great!

I wear Hoka’s (Bondi with fitted insoles). When I want a sandal, I wear Oofos marathon recovery shoes (they do take some getting used to because you are walking on air).

Honestly, I’ve tried Hokas for Disneyland. Hokas are the most uncomfortable shoes I’ve ever owned. So much so I called Hoka directly thinking I got a defective pair and they informed me it takes 30 days to break them in. Day 32 threw them away. The Brooks Glycerin line is like walking on clouds and fits my custom orthotics.

I’ve been wearing Brooks Ghosts since Ghost 9’s (they are on 15 now). I tried Hoka’s last year and just hated them. I tried to get used to them. They felt TOO squishy and just felt clunky where my Ghosts are weightless and I can do a 14 + hour park day with no for fatigue.

I was fitted and though Hokas were a possibility I ended up with ON Clouds. Funnily enough, I noticed a lot of people wearing ON Clouds at WDW a couple weeks ago.

We all wear Hokas!!! But Brooks and New Balance are great also!!! Just remember to go to a reputable running store and get properly fitted!! Hokas work great for me but might be horrible for someone else!!

A good sporting foot store will have machines that help you find the right shoe. I currently rotate through 6 pairs of Hoka Arahi 6. Current model is now Arahi 7 but will go back to the store to make sure they are still the best for me before switching to the newer model.

Have used them for years. Learned about them being a Fed Ex driver. They even have a gortex waterproof version

I agree. Hokas are great when you need additional stability too. Use the shoe finder on the website to see what styles are recommended for your foot. I have Hokas for almost every activity, including hiking.

Brooks Ghost are hands down the best and most comfortable for hours of walking!
