We’ve got IMPORTANT NEWS for Disney World fans!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom
The NEW Magic Kingdom ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is opening this summer (on June 28th), and Disney just released a huge update about how the queue and boarding process will work. As many fans predicted, the ride will use a virtual queue to manage demand, and now we know exactly how that virtual queue will work.
Disney is re-theming Splash Mountain to become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which will open on June 28th this summer (2024). We’re super excited for this new ride, and we know tons of y’all are, too! If you can’t wait to hop on and join Tiana on her adventure down the bayou, make sure you carefully read all of the virtual queue details so that you don’t miss your opportunity to ride.

Disney announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will have a virtual queue when it opens in Magic Kingdom. This has become Disney’s go-to strategy for managing demand for popular rides. A couple of other rides that have a virtual queue in Disney World right now include Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and TRON Lightcycle / Run.
You can join the virtual queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at 7AM or 1PM. Disney said, “While a standby queue will not be available during the attraction’s initial opening days, we expect to open a standby queue soon after the attraction’s opening,” so it sounds like the virtual queue isn’t expected to stick around for long.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will NOT have a standby line when it first opens. Your only two options to ride will be to get into the virtual queue or use Disney Genie+. The ride will be part of Genie+ (not an Individual Lightning Lane).

The virtual queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is accessible via the My Disney Experience app. The queue will open at 7AM each morning and again at 1PM each afternoon. You do NOT have to be in Magic Kingdom to join the 7AM one, but you DO have to be inside Magic Kingdom to join the 1PM one. To join, open the app to the homepage and locate the virtual queue section. It’s one of the first sections you’ll see when you scroll down on that homepage.

Virtual Queue Prompt on My Disney Experience Home Screen
You can click “Join Virtual Queue,” and then you’ll see a list of the attractions in Disney World that have virtual queues. Pick Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and go through the process of joining, which includes answering the question “How many people are in your party?” If you want to be extra prepared, you can actually confirm your party in advance, before that 7AM queue opens.
Beginning at 6AM, you can tap into the virtual queue and set/confirm your party so that you have fewer steps when boarding groups are available at 7AM or 1PM. On the app, after you’ve selected your desired attraction in the appropriate park, under “Join Virtual Queue,” you’ll find a button that says “Confirm Your Party.”

TRON Lightcycle / Run Virtual Queue
Once you hit that button, the app will find the people who are linked to your account. You’ll select each person that you want to add to your party, and choose “Confirm Party.”
Note that virtual queues open at exactly 7AM and 1PM, and they can fill up within SECONDS, so you really want to be ready exactly on time. If you’re in the app before 7AM hits, you may need to refresh your screen at 7AM.
If the virtual queue has filled up, you’ll see a notification alerting you to this change. The app may also note when the next virtual queue will open.

If you’re successful in joining the queue, you will receive a boarding group. Disney calls boarding groups back in sections, and once your group is called back, you’ll receive a notification from the My Disney Experience app telling you to head back to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. You’ll have one hour to return once your group is called.
Although Disney doesn’t give you a return time, you can track the progress of the virtual queue on the app to get a fairly good estimate of when your group will be called.

Disney has shared that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will pick up the story of The Princess and the Frog “after the final kiss,” and visitors will get to “join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.”

As Tiana is preparing for the big event, she realizes that she’s missing an important ingredient, so she needs our help to go on an adventure to find it!
The ride will feature music from the movie as well as new songs, and there will be nods to the old Splash Mountain ride throughout.

As it was with Splash Mountain, the attraction will last about 11 or 12 minutes. The new ride will feature a combination of practical lighting, digital lighting, and scenic paint.
Additionally, state-of-the-art audio-animatronics of characters including Tiana (of course), Louis, and the “critter band” will bring the attraction to life!

so just a question if you have genie+, do you still have to join the virtual queue? or no?
thank you so much
Hi McKenna. Yes, Virtual Queues are separate from regular Genie+ Lightning Lane selections.
So they’ll be two virtual queues in magic Kingdom that doesn’t seem fair.
Can you do both virtual queues the same day or are you limited to just one?
Disney is marketing this 4 day pass for each park so if you now have a park with 2 that really stinks.
