Are you stoked about your next trip to Disney World?
We don’t blame you (we’re excited for you!). There are just so many reasons to be hyped up for a trip to Disney World…but, if you could hold on for just a moment, we’ve got an idea we wanted to float by you — How about postponing your trip until 2025? There’s a big reason that could totally change your Disney World trip, so let’s talk about why hitting pause might just be the best move you’ll make!
Are you ready to hear why your vacation might be even better in 2025? OK, here goes!
A Water Park Welcome
Okay, so we all love a good splash at Disney’s water parks, right? That’s especially true when the Florida sun is blazing (when isn’t it?). But here’s the scoop — by waiting until 2025, you’ll be eligible to snag a pretty special deal.
Disney World has announced that in 2025, anyone staying at Disney Resorts (including DVC properties) will get a FREE park ticket to the water parks on their arrival day. You’ll be able to use this perk at either Blizzard Beach Water Park or Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and only on your check-in day.
Right now, it looks like this benefit is only available for those with check-in dates from January 1st to December 31st, 2025.
Learn more about this offer here!
That’s not the ONLY reason why you might want to wait to visit Disney World, though. Let’s dig into a few more upcoming events that may affect your plans!
Tiana Takes Center Stage
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to open on June 28th, 2024, and the ride is looking better every single day. We are basically holding our breath at this point (we’re SO EXCITED to ride it!), but if you can hold off until 2025, you’ll likely dodge the huge crowds that will probably be heading straight for this ride for a few months.
You’ll also likely miss any of the early technical issues that Disney is most likely going to have to work through in the first few days and weeks as they work out all the kinks. All that means is that you will be guaranteeing yourself an experience fit for all you Disney princes and princesses.

New Foodie Options
New rides and hotels aren’t the only things that have been popping up in Disney World as of late. There have also been a lot of new restaurants sprouting all over the property (and we’re not complaining), and there are new ones coming that you’ll have to try in 2025.
The Cake Bake Shop at Disney World’s Boardwalk hasn’t opened yet but is slated to open sometime this year. Owned by Gwendolyn Rogers, the Cake Bake Shop will include both a table service restaurant and a quick service bakery option. You can expect the menu to include savory options like truffle pommes frites, quiche, and sandwiches; lots of different cakes (of course); and more confections like pies, cheesecake, and more!
Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs will soon have a new location on the BoardWalk, too! You can find Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs at Downtown Disney in Disneyland. This stand is known for its fun takes on corn dogs like the Pickle Corn Dog. The Disney World version will open sometime this year.
The Polynesian Village Resort is getting a new hotel wing, called the Island Tower, and new dining experiences are coming with it! We have been watching the progress on this new tower, and construction is coming along.
This new hotel building will be part of the Disney Vacation Club. This expansion is expected to open in December 2024, so we’re hoping to hear details about the new restaurant(s) inside soon!

New Tower Open at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
And speaking of that new tower…the expansion itself is a pretty good reason to push your vacation back to 2025. We’ve all been eagerly waiting for the latest updates on the new Island Tower under construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. It’s been under construction for a while now, but it is slated to open in December 2024.
It’ll be so exciting to see all the new offerings and the new guest rooms at this tower! Disney has promised that the Tower will offer new dining and swimming areas. We’ve already seen the construction of one building on the site that a Cast Member has told us could be a restaurant, with an area under construction just beyond that will reportedly be a new pool. So it looks like at least one restaurant could be attached to the pool (maybe more like a pool bar/lounge situation?).
If you’re curious about booking, here are some important dates to keep in mind:
- June 4:Â Disney Vacation Club members can make early rental reservations by contacting Member Services at (800) 800-9800. Disney Vacation Club members will be able to make points-based reservations at a later date.
- June 5: Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can start booking rental reservations by contacting (407) 934-7639.
- June 6: All guests can make reservations on the Disney World website or by contacting (407) 934-7639.

EPCOT Will Be Complete (Finally)
EPCOT lovers will be able to finally rejoice! The park has been undergoing a major glow-up (for years now), and we just cannot wait for everything to be open and to finally say goodbye to the construction walls.
The new CommuniCore Hall and Plaza festival areas will be opening on June 10th, 2024. If you can wait to come until after that, you’ll get to experience EPCOT in its full glory, with all the new additions seamlessly woven in like a vibrant tapestry.

EPIC Universe
Now, I know we’re talking about Disney World, but let’s not forget about Universal’s EPIC Universe, set to open nearby in 2025. This theme park promises a whole host of new rides, shows, and more.
Imagine kicking it with Mario and his crew in the Super Nintendo World, or exploring the fantastical worlds of DreamWorks Animation. Why not experience the best of both worlds with a magical Disney day and then an epic Universal adventure?

A better reason is that Universal’s third park will open although I would wait a year and let them shake the bugs out first 🙂
