Certain Walt Disney World mishaps are worse than others…
There’s a ton of planning that goes into a Walt Disney World vacation. From choosing the right hotel to making dining reservations to planning out Genie+ and Lightning Lanes. However, even with the best-laid plans, some mishaps will always happen. We’ve polled the experts on our team to put together this list of the most painful of these mishaps…and how to avoid them!
Blisters
There is A LOT of walking involved in a Disney World vacation, which inherently leads to painful blisters. While it’s probably impossible to avoid them completely, there are ways to mitigate them.
Specifically, as tempting as it is to buy cute new shoes for vacation, it’s IMPERATIVE to wear them in to a comfortable level before your trip. Trust us — your feet will thank you.
SunburnÂ
Much like walking, being out in the sun is simply a fact of life on a Walt Disney World vacation during the vast majority of the year, thanks to Florida’s subtropical climate. So, what can be done about it?
Make sure to pack and use SPF lotion at the right strength, as well as wearing protection including sunglasses and baseball caps or hats.

Upset Stomach
Eating at Walt Disney World can be overwhelming. There are so many options, many of which aren’t the healthiest choices. It can be tempting to totally give in and abandon your normal diet to gorge on all the available treats, but doing so can wreak havoc with your stomach.Â
We’d advise trying to adhere to your normal diet as much as possible while still enjoying some treats, especially if you have a weaker stomach. However, if you do end up not feeling well, make sure you have some Tums on hand. They can be a serious lifesaver!

Not Being Prepared for the Weather
The stereotype of Florida weather is that it’s hot. While this stereotype is a stereotype for a reason — it certainly is hot, especially in the summer — it’s not the case all year round, so you can’t simply throw summer clothes in a suitcase and call it packing.Â
Look closely at the forecast prior to your trip and pack accordingly. You might need jeans or a light hoodie or jacket during colder months, and plenty of rain gear like ponchos during the rainier season.
Over-Tiredness and Body PainÂ
It can be tempting to overdo a Walt Disney World vacation, but trying to get a park every day at rope drop and stay until closing. However, if your body can’t handle that, and you wake up the next morning wiped out in debilitating pain, you’re doing a disservice to your trip. Instead, figure out how much your body can handle, and schedule yourself around that. Also, keep some Aspirin or Tylenol on hand.Â
Speaking of Aspirin or Tylenol, an important Disney World tip to keep in mind for many of these remedies — from Aspirin to SPF to Band-Aids to blisters — is that the resort’s First Aid stations in each park offer all of these and more to anyone who needs them.Â

Motion Sickness
While motion sickness affects some people more than others, generally, it can be an issue for many of the rides at Disney. A smart step if you’re prone to motion sickness is to preemptively eat a Ginger Chew before riding.Â
We’re no medical experts here, but a LOT of our readers (and reporters) swear by ginger chews! You can find them on Amazon or in stores like T.J. Maxx!
DehydrationÂ
Even in the cooler months, dehydration is a major danger at Walt Disney World. It’s important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, either by purchasing eater bottles, bringing your own and filling at the available stations, or even taking advantage of the free water offered at quick-service dining locations.Â
While some of these Disney mishaps are more avoidable than others, none of them should ruin your vacation as long as you know how to mitigate them. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World tips.
