For many of us, the rides in Disney World are a huge draw to the parks.
Between all four parks (and water parks if you want to include them), there are a TON of rides for everyone of all ages. Some are classics while others are brand new. There are fan favorites and ones that will never let you down. But every ride has the possibility to cause injuries. Disney works hard to keep every ride safe and in pristine working condition. They meet safety standards, and you shouldn’t worry about being hurt on them on a regular basis. However, accidents do happen. So we’re taking a look at the 10 rides with the MOST injuries in Disney World — some may surprise you!
As we said, Disney World rides are generally safe. They are tested and refurbished regularly which keeps them up to the highest levels of safety standards. However, unfortunate things happen, even in Disney World.
When someone is injured in any theme park in Florida, the park’s owner has to report the injury to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences. So, I combed through all that data and crunched the numbers to find the rides where people are injured the most.
The following list includes the top 10 rides that had the most injuries from January 2022 through March 2024 (beginning of Quarter 1 2022 – end of Quarter 1 2024) and the number of incidents in that time period, according to a report by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
- Flight of Passage — 6
- Kilimanjaro Safaris — 5
- Frozen Ever After — 4
- Pirates of the Caribbean — 4
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad — 4
- Slinky Dog Dash — 3
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster — 3
- Mission: SPACE — 3
- Rise of the Resistance — 3
- Soarin’ Around the World — 3
These incidents may include small things like someone tripping as they were getting in or out of a ride car. But they also include more serious threats, such as injuries sustained by people with pre-existing conditions. A pre-existing condition may mean the injury was either caused by the condition and not the ride or a combination of the condition and effects of the ride.
I was honestly surprised to see rides like Frozen Ever After and Pirates of the Caribbean on the list! Other rides that had injuries in the past two years that aren’t in the top 10 were even slow-movers like the People Mover and Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. Frankly, a ride only having a max of six injuries over two years seems pretty trustworthy to us considering the thousands of people who ride each day! This might be proof of Disney’s good track record when it comes to the safety of their rides.
And no, none of the injuries from Kimilanjaro Safaris came from any animals!
We hope you’ll take this as comfort that Disney World’s rides are safe and that you can enjoy them with little fear of being hurt on them. We suggest that if you do have a pre-existing condition, only ride the rides that are safe for your condition. And when you’re getting in and out of ride vehicles, make sure you’re paying close attention to your surroundings. These things will help keep you safe during your vacation in Disney World!

Honestly, most of the injuries are from people just not paying attention or not following rules. A man had his finger sliced by putting his hand in the water on pirates as it was coming in. We have people get sick on guardians even though we have several signs warning guests of the dangers.

Does getting stuck on Toy Story and having to listen to the same music for 55 minutes count?

Or being stuck on Minnie and Mickeys Railroad and having to listen to “Nothing can stop us now,” over and over and over. How ironic it was when we were stopped dead. 🤣

Have MS so mobility issues. Was on Figmint. Ride ends, door opens, step out cautious with cane. Woman in front row, for some reason thought I needed her “help” but she actually pushed me down. I caught myself with cane and daughter had other arm. She said, I just knew you were going to fall. LOL. I only go for family. But big thunder mountain, woman puts 90lb daughter and my FAT self in last cart. No muscle strength so either smooshing daughter or hitting leg with all my weight. LOL. Never again. Both bruised up that night. HAHA.
