Congratulations! You’ve made it this far through 2024 and we’re proud of you. It’s so far into the year that it’s already time to talk about June at Disney World!
Not only is June the start of hurricane season, but it also marks some HUGE milestones for Disney World. Two major attractions are opening, characters are getting new meet-and-greet spots, a popular EPCOT ride is closing, and so much more. Keep scrolling so that you’re in the know for your next Disney World visit!

Here’s a peek at what you can look forward to in June at Disney World!
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure OPENS
Y’all, it’s happening! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is officially opening at Magic Kingdom on June 28th, 2024! However, a LOT is going on at the attraction before that date comes. If you’re part of a certain group of Disney fans, you may be able to preview the new ride!
Annual Passholders can preview on June 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, and 20th, 2024. Passholders will be required to make a Magic Kingdom park pass reservation on one of those June dates to access a 7AM virtual queue. Park passes have sold out as of the writing of this post for those dates, however, there is a workaround!
You can still make a reservation for a different park and park hop over to Magic Kingdom to try your luck for the 1PM virtual queue. There will only be those two chances to join at 7AM or 1PM.
Cast Members will also be able to preview the attraction on certain dates in June as long as they register for a slot and have a Park Pass to Magic Kingdom.
Disney Vacation Club Members were not left out! For limited hours on June 12th and 19th, DVC members can experience the attraction. There are a few caveats, so be sure to read through all the details here beforehand.
D23 previews were available as a separately ticketed event, but they have sold out. On the opening day, Tiana’s will use a Virtual Queue system and be added to Genie+. Anyone who buys the service will be able to try to book a Lightning Lane for it, but we do expect those to fill up quite fast.
THIS Is Perfect for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Opening Day in Disney World
CommuniCore Hall & Plaza Debut
While we wait for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to open, June 10th marks the day that big changes sweep Disney World! First of all, the long-awaited CommuniCore Hall and Plaza is set to open at EPCOT!
This marks the end of the EPCOT transformation which has caused the park to be a construction zone for years. We’ve slowly seen projects open including Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, but this is the last piece of the puzzle (for now).
CommuniCore Hall and Plaza will be used as festival areas with the plaza featuring a fun outdoor space and the hall that was built for festival programming. Disney hasn’t confirmed or denied yet, but that could mean the return of food demonstrations and seminars! The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival starts on August 29th, so there’s still time!
On top of that, a new show called “¡Celebración Encanto!” will run several times per day on the Plaza stage. Yes, you’ll get to see Mirabel and Bruno in EPCOT!
Inside, Mickey and his friends will have a dedicated meet-and-greet area. We can’t wait to see it! We also got a preview of what it looks like lit up at night and let’s just say…you won’t want to miss it.

New Meet & Greet Hits Hollywood Studios
Speaking of meet and greets, there is a brand new one coming to Hollywood Studios! Say hello to Joy from Inside Out who will be greeting people at the park starting June 10th!
This is in celebration of the new Inside Out 2 movie which debuts on June 14th in theaters. Fittingly, she’ll be available over at Pixar Plaza with several other characters. Joy used to have a meet and greet location at EPCOT but if you want to catch her, head to Hollywood Studios! Check the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit for times.

Lion King Celebration at Animal Kingdom
Nope, the list of new things coming to Disney World on June 10th is not over yet! Animal Kingdom is also getting in on the action that day by kicking off a 30th anniversary celebration for The Lion King. Yes, the movie is that old and yes, we’re still crying about it.
Disney announced that there will be special menu items available throughout the park and the Timon and Rafiki meet and greet will return! Find them over at Rafiki’s Planet Watch and while you’re there, draw some Lion King characters at the Animation Experience.
This celebration will go through September 6th so there’s plenty of time to celebrate.
26 Upcoming Dates To Avoid Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Test Track CLOSES for Retheme
Just a week after all of this happens, Test Track will temporarily close on June 17th. Why? Well, the ride is getting a bit of an overhaul!
It’s unclear exactly what is changing here, but we’ve put together a few clues from the concept art and quotes. For one, Disney will bring the “spirit of optimism” from World of Motion to the next iteration of Test Track. The ride vehicles seem to resemble it so we’re pretty sure that will be a major aspect of this renovation.
World of Motion was an EPCOT opening day attraction that “took visitors on a time travel journey through the history of transportation.” Utilizing an Omnimover system, this attraction took guests through scenes that depicted the innovation of transportation over time. At the end of the ride, visitors would then get a good look at the cars of the future.
We’ll just have to wait and see for sure, but if you’re planning to visit EPCOT in June, you may not be able to ride it.
