Heading to Disney World later in 2024? We’re so excited for you!
We have plenty of tips on our blog and YouTube Channel to help you plan the perfect vacation. But before you even step into the parks, you’ll need to pack successfully for your trip. We tell you all the time what TO pack, but what about what you should NOT pack?
More Outfits Than You Need
Trust us, we’re big fans of being prepared for any possible situation, but that does NOT mean that you need to pack 4 extra outfits on your vacation.
At most, we suggest packing 1 extra shirt/top and 1 extra pair of bottoms, but other than that, one outfit for each day is perfect! Along with your pajamas, a light jacket just in case it’s chilly, a rain poncho/jacket (unless you’re bringing an umbrella), undergarments, and socks, you’ll have plenty to fill up your suitcase!
Only 1 Pair of Shoes
You may think it’s ideal to only bring one pair of shoes and WEAR them as you travel to the parks, that way you don’t need to pack any in your bag. However, we find it’s a good idea to rotate the shoes you wear, so we bring two pairs for the parks. This can cut down on blisters since you won’t have the same pair of shoes rubbing the same spots each day.
You may also want to bring a pair of sandals for the pool or for a dress-up dinner reservation. But you don’t need any more than that!

A Fancy Outfit
Again, the only exception here is if you already have a fancy table service reservation booked for your trip. Otherwise, you do not need a fancy outfit in your bag!
Many table service restaurants are actually perfectly fine with dining in theme park attire, so no fancy outfits are required. This will just take up space you need to save for souvenirs! We understand wanting to pack one just in case, but really, just don’t waste the space unless you have plans that warrat it.
A Crappy Water Bottle
A water bottle is absolutely essential for a Disney World trip, but it has to be a GOOD water bottle! And trust us, there are terrible options out there. We personally love Owalas!
A good water bottle will keep your drinks cold all day without sweating all over everything in your bag (then it gets everything wet and just blech). This way, you can refill it with free ice water from quick service restaurants throughout the day, and you’ll never be without cold water on hot days!
Snacks That Will Melt/Go Bad
Bringing snacks into the Disney World parks is 100% things we will always suggest, because it helps you save money, HOWEVER, do NOT attempt to bring in snacks that will melt or go bad if they’re not refrigerated. For example:
- Lunch meat
- Cheese
- Chocolate
- Yogurt
Now, it’s also important to pack snacks in containers that will keep them from being crushed and splattering all over your bag. Reusable Snack Bags are fantastic for this very purpose!
These come in multiple different sizes, which means they can fit whatever you desire!
If you’re looking to pack an entire lunch, a Bento Box may be the perfect solution!
This way, you can have your whole meal in one place, and the hard case will keep anything from getting crushed.
If you’ve got smaller snacks, we suggest grabbing some Stackable Snack Containers to save space!
You can fit three different snacks in each container, giving you some great variety.
We’re always here to help you plan your next Disney vacation AS WELL as what to pack before you head out, so stay tuned to DFB!
