REVIEW: Peanut Butter and Jelly Time! These Fries Are Making Our Inner Child Happy

We just tried a delicious take on the classic peanut butter and jelly at Disneyland Resort! Fantasmic! has returned to Disneyland Park and Pixar Fest is in full swing at Disney California Adventure Park. As well, new restaurants including Small Bytes pool bar, Paseo, Centrico, and Tiendita have opened at Disneyland Resort. There is always something new to explore in the parks and that is part of what makes them so special!

Award Wieners

We are in the parks every day, and we are always keeping our eyes peeled for updates, changes, and new food items. And today we are checking out Award Wieners!

We spotted an interesting snack pop up at Award Wieners in Disney California Adventure Park, so you know we had to try it out! Award Wieners may be famous for its hot dogs, but we have our eyes on one of the supporting cast food items. Today we are checking out the PB&J Sweet Potato Fries for $7.99.

This snack is crispy sweet potato fries topped with peanut butter cream, strawberry jelly drizzle, and potato chips. We were excited to see if this snack delivered the peanut butter and jelly flavor we were hoping for! And with potato chips on top? We couldn’t say no.

PB&J Sweet Potato Fries

Alright, this dish is about what we expected but we were very disappointed to only have three measly potato chips on the whole dish. While it is not a huge serving, a few more chips would have been nice. However, potato chips aside, there was a good dollop of peanut butter cream and a decent amount of strawberry jelly drizzle. The jelly drizzle tasted fresh, and we loved that it didn’t taste artificial at all. The peanut butter cream was the true star of the show though! It was light, creamy, sweet, and had lots of peanut butter flavor. While we slightly expected a vanilla or whipped cream flavor, this cream was all peanut butter flavor, and we are all for it.

We loved the salty crunch the potato chips added, but we really wish there were more of them in this dish. We thought the fries were crispier than normal quick service fries, however we found that the peanut butter and jelly flavors mostly overpowered the sweet potato flavor. Not a big deal as we were really interested in this snack for the peanut butter and jelly flavors. Overall, we really enjoyed this dish, but it is definitely sweet and has lots of peanut butter and jelly flavor. Our reporter even mentioned that they usually prefer normal fries over sweet potato fries, and they loved this dish!

Time to dig in

We have found lots of delicious, new food recently, including the Smashed Burger at Small Bytes, which was incredible and may be in contention for one of our favorite burgers. We have also tried a Birria Pizza that has quickly become one of our favorite quick service meals at Disneyland. As well as a $16 mozzarella stick that was huge and cheesy!
