Is there a Disney World hotel that is your favorite? It’s the one hotel you stay at every time you go to Disney World, and you’ve started to think about it as your home away from home.
There are many hotels to choose from in Disney World. You can pick from Value, Moderate, or Deluxe resorts, each categorized by price. Each hotel is unique in its own way, but all offer special perks including transportation, cool Disney theming, and extra time in the parks in some capacity (all hotel guests can take advantage of Early Entry days, while Deluxe hotel guests also get Extended Evening hours on select nights). Even though every hotel can be a great option for people visiting Disney World, we’ve started to notice something about Disney’s Value resorts, and it’s really hard for us to talk about because it’s unfair in so many ways.
Disney’s Value resorts make up the lowest tier of hotels in Disney World. They offer the lowest prices per night, typically only have one main food court, and all of them offer larger-than-life themes. We’ll probably never get over the massive basketball hoops at Disney’s All-Star Sports, Ursula at Art of Animation, or the giant yo-yo at Pop Century.
Each of the All-Star hotels (Sports, Movies, Music), Pop Century, and Art of Animation are the Value resorts that you can stay at while you’re in Disney World. Honestly, we really enjoy these hotels! Their affordable pricing is great and the rooms are nice. Plus, Pop Century and Art of Animation are right at a Skyliner station, making getting to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT even easier. Art of Animation even offers suites that can fit up to six people, some of the largest rooms in Disney World.
Now that we’ve told you all these great things about the Value resorts you’re probably wondering what it is that we don’t want to admit to. Well, here’s the thing. We’re afraid that Disney’s Value resorts are starting to fall off the radar. Disney has been putting in a lot of effort in refurbishing, re-theming, and even expanding its Deluxe resorts, but almost no effort has been put into the Value resorts. Yes, some of the rooms at the Value resorts have been updated, but nothing as big as what’s happening at the Deluxe resorts.
The All-Star resorts each got room updates over the past few years, but the biggest changes were that two queen beds and Murphy beds were added to the rooms. However, Disney has been updating many of their hotel rooms to add Murphy beds recently, so this is not exclusive to the Value resorts. On the other hand, Disney’s Boardwalk Hotel received huge room AND lobby updates. Several other Deluxe hotels also received lobby updates including Disney’s Beach Club and Disney’s Grand Floridian hotels.
Speaking of the Grand Floridian Resort, it is in the middle of a huge renovation. Disney’s Polynesian Resort is getting a major expansion with the new Disney Vacation Club tower currently being built. And Disney’s Contemporary and Polynesian Resorts have received full IP (Intellectual Property) makeovers, giving them Disney themes based on movies (Incredibles and Moana respectively).
Of course, we’re not mad about seeing Disney giving any of their hotels some love and upkeep. We are just surprised that the Value resorts (and even the Moderate resorts) aren’t receiving the same kind of treatment since they are more affordable options for people coming to visit. Perhaps more updates are to come in the future for the hotels. Even if they aren’t getting special attention from Disney, we hope you continue to enjoy the Value resorts because they are great options!

I didn’t like the refurbishment. We lost the table. I liked having both the bed and the table at the same time.
And AllStar Music also has family suites.
