EPCOT continues to see quite a bit of change throughout the park. While we’re eagerly counting down the days until the construction walls around CommuniCore Hall and Plaza come down, we’ve been keeping a close watch over even more change happening elsewhere in the park.
If you’ve walked through the Morocco pavilion lately to stop by and say hello to Princess Jasmine or take a break in our secret relaxation spot, you’ve probably noticed more annoying construction walls. But those walls have finally started to reveal their purpose!
As you make your way around the World Showcase, take a moment to look around. There’s so much to see and all kinds of changes that have already happened earlier in the year. Most recently around the Morocco pavilion, some of the building tops have been refurbished and now look as pristine as ever.
At first glance, it may not be as noticeable as you’re taking in all of the sights and peering around the corners, but we guarantee you if you’re eagle-eyed enough to spot those colorful water fountains and seating areas, you’ll notice this latest update too!
It’s what you’ll find closer to the ground level that’s worth a second look. Just days ago, the entire center of the pavilion was almost completely walled off with construction walls surrounding the wider pathway to enter the back part of the pavilion. Ok, let’s just call it what it was — most of the pavilion was taken over with walls much like how the World Celebration Gardens used to look before its own construction walls came down.
However, some of those walls have been removed to reveal a new update.
While Disney World keeps up regular refurbishment schedules on everything (including rides and attractions), sometimes we forget that even the park decor itself could use a touch-up once in a while. If you’ve got a keen enough sense to spot it, you’ll notice that the mosaic tile in the planters around the Morocco pavilion has been recently refurbished.
We love their colorful, bright look and think this update really highlights the gorgeous design. We did notice a few more construction walls still in place around the pavilion, which signals to us that the refurbishment isn’t quite over yet.
Could we expect more color to come to the center of the once heavily monotoned area of EPCOT? We guess we’ll just have to wait to find out what’s on the other side!
We’re always keeping up with the latest updates and construction progress going on around Disney World so make sure you stay tuned with us at DFB for even more.

I prefer the traditional Moroccan tiles. Isn’t this pattern on the floor of one of the restrooms?

Years ago we too an Epcot behind the scenes tour. When going through Morrocco, the guide explained that once an artisan would finish their work, they would break part of it to make it imperfect. They did this because in their belief was that only God could make something perfect. While I do not share their religious beliefs, a part of me is sad that this part of their culture is not being represented in updates.

Another generic update by Disney. What a shame.
