The day we’ve been waiting for is finally here! We have officially seen the inside of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom!
We’ve gotten sneak peeks at what we can expect from the new ride, such as some of the new characters we’ll meet, what some of the animatronics will look like, and some of the queue details you’ll want to be on the lookout for. The ride officially opens on June 28th, 2024, but Disney has shared a full ride through of the new ride on You Tube, and we are so excited to share a few new details — all the songs you’ll hear on the ride!
We were so thrilled to get to watch this new video Disney shared! It’s a huge sneak peek before all the previews begin and the ride officially opens. While we can’t wait to actually ride the ride, this was cool insight into the new attraction!
To back up briefly, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is located in the same spot and ride building as Splash Mountain was in Frontierland. The story of the ride picks up about a year after The Princess and The Frog film ends, and Disney stated that you’ll “join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.”
Tiana has opened her dream restaurant, Tiana’s Palace, and now she’s preparing to host a Mardi Gras party for the town to thank them for all the support they’ve shown her and her restaurant. However, Tiana realizes the party is missing one final key ingredient, and that’s where the guests on the ride come in! You’ll join Tiana and Louis on the hunt for the final ingredient, meeting tons of unexpected new friends along the way.
The ride still features the same 5-story drop Splash Mountain did, and is the same 11-12 minute length, but has an all-new look and storyline to enjoy as you ride. But what songs can you hear during your ride? We knew that the attraction was going to feature original music “inspired by songs from the film” and that we’d hear the voices of Jenifer Lewis (Mama Odie), Bruno Campos (Prince Naveen), Michael Leon Wooley (Louis), and Anika Noni Rose (Princess Tiana) on the ride as well.
We also know that the ride features a lot of zydeco music (a “special blend of rhythm and blues that was born in Louisiana”) specifically in the bayou, to reflect the spirit of inclusion Disney Imagineers wanted to ensure the ride included. We also knew that PJ Morton, the Grammy Award-Winning musician and keyboardist for Maroon 5, created an original song for the ride and is overall playing a large role in the attraction’s music, and Terence Blanchard, a Grammy-Award Winning Artist, has also assisted with music.
While we watched the video of the ride, we noticed several familiar songs like Down in New Orleans, Almost There, Gonna Take You There, and Dig a Little Deeper. But there was also an all new song — Special Spice. This new song written by PJ Morton and sung by Anika Noni Rose was just released on May 31st, and is now available on all streaming platforms. So if you want to hear it before you ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you can!
We were so happy to hear some of our favorite songs from the film, as well as the new addition that really made us feel like we were in Louisiana. We’re keeping you updated on all the latest Tiana’s Bayou Adventure news as we experience this preview, so stay tuned to DFB!
