Can you believe it’s almost time to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom?!

The Princess and the Frog-themed water ride is set to open to everyone on June 28th, 2024 after sets of previews for exclusive groups of Disney fans. Construction started in early 2023 and we’ve been anxiously waiting for the day we get to experience the attraction. We previously got a sneak peek at the animatronics, new characters, queue details, and more, but now that Disney has released a FULL ride-through video, we have to tell you that something HUGE is missing.
We’ve known for a while now that the ride picks up about a year after The Princess and the Frog movie ends, as Tiana is still running her very successful restaurant, Tiana’s Foods. She’s working on a Mardi Gras party for the whole town, to thank them for their support, but she realizes the final ingredient is missing!

We’ve also known we’d see characters like Tiana, Lottie, and Louis from the original film, as well as some new characters, specifically Tiana’s Critters. But what we didn’t expect is to notice that a BIG character from the original film is MISSING in the ride!

Dr. Facilier is the villain of The Princess and The Frog, known for his dark voodoo magic that is responsible for turning Tiana and Prince Naveen into frogs. However, his true master plan is to capture the souls of everyone in New Orleans for his “friends on the other side.”

At the end of the film, when Tiana successfully smashes the amulet given to Dr. Facilier by the spirits, he is taken away by the spirits to the other side himself, as they had warned him if he couldn’t complete his task with the amulet, it would be his soul in jeopardy. And this, friends, is potentially why you will NOT see Dr. Facilier in any part of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

That’s right — in the full ride-through video of the attraction, we noticed there’s no sign of the sorcerer anywhere in the ride. Now, it could be for any other reason that Dr. Facilier isn’t seen, but we’re assuming it’s due to the fact that Disney wouldn’t want to have to explain HOW he escaped from the spirits, OR have to put all the spirits in there as well.

Planning to ride when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens at Disney World? There are two ways to do so. You can either purchase Genie+ and make a Lightning Lane reservation for the attraction, or you can join the virtual queue at 7AM or 1PM. Really? No Facilier but Ray who is dead and a star in the sky will still be in it – ruins what I was hoping for for the big drop – oh well…..
I was very unimpressed. The Princess and the Frog has a better story than the Splash Mountain story. But they didn’t the story in the ride. Not having an evil sorcerer is one thing. Never having Tiana turn into a frog is another. There are really about five great Princess and the Frog characters missing.
