Have you been looking for a tropical island-like vacation within Disney World?
Well, we have some great news for you! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been under construction for quite some time, and this new hotel tower will soon be complete! Later this year, the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows will open, and Disney just gave us a sneak peek at the rooms!
This new tower is expected to open on December 17th of this year! Part of the Disney Vacation Club, this 10-story tower will feature rooms of different sizes to accommodate different-sized parties. Of course, like its predecessor, The Polynesian Village Resort, these rooms will take inspiration from the Polynesian Islands and even feature custom artwork from Moana!
These rooms were also designed with sustainability in mind! The rugs and carpets inside the rooms are made from primarily recycled bottles! Disney Vacation Club tries to make its properties feel like home and offer all the amenities you would need to feel like you are there.
Now let’s look into the rooms that will be offered!
Similar to Disney’s Riveria Resort, the Island Tower will feature rooms made for two in their duo studios!
Families of four were also considered, and four people can comfortably sleep in a deluxe studio. Typically, Disney Vacation Club studio rooms offer a small kitchenette that usually includes a sink, mini fridge, toaster, and microwave. Well, at the Island Tower, deluxe studios will consist of a dishwasher! This makes it even easier to enjoy your vacation, as you do not have to worry about doing dishes in a small sink. This feature will also help with sustainability as it reduces the waste of single-use plastics like plastic utensils.
If you need more space, the Island Tower will also have one and two-bedroom villas available! Like other Disney Vacation Club resorts, these rooms will feature a full kitchen, outdoor patio, and even your own washer and dryer.
If you are looking to stay in style, you can stay in the Island Tower’s Two-Bedroom Penthouse Villas. These Penthouses will offer picturesque views of Seven Seas Lagoon as well as the Magic Kingdom, making it perfect to watch Magic Kingdom’s nighttime entertainment right from your room!

Wow! These are as ugly as the refurbished Bay Lake and Contemporary! Obviously “imagination and creativity” are NOT in Disney’s design department’s wheelhouse.

I heard that WDW is now completely restricting parking at ALL their resorts to people who do not have room or meal reservations. That is SOOOOO disappointing to those of us who travel to WDW nearly year. Our family has always LOVED to resort-hop, especially when we don’t plan on going into the parks (too costly to do every year). We spend money at the resorts for food (not always at the sit-down restaurants) and in the gift shops, so keeping visitors from resort-hopping is actually a financial loss for Disney. Why build these amazing resorts and not allow visitors to enjoy them?! Now, we may not come back to WDW again if there is NOTHING to enjoy there when you stay off property and can’t afford the parks. So disappointing.

I miss the Luau. They should have ensured a space for the show.

Definitely needs more beige. How do these bland, boring rooms echo Polynesia?

I’m wondering if the rooms have tub/shower combos. When I travel, I want to be able to soak in a tub to relax after a long day in the parks. At the new Disneyland resort vacation club tower, they only have showers, so I won’t be staying there. Do you know if they have tub/shower combos? Would love to know.

Deb, tried to drive in the Riviera recently to visit & have a lite meal but, no can do…wouldn’t let us past the security gate.
Really loved the walk along Bay Lake from the Poly to GF and miss it. Kicking myself for never doing the luau. Oh well, we all have a beautiful, 10 story monstrosity to enjoy.

If Disney wants people to pay a massive premium for it’s hotels, it needs to move away from it’s bland nondescript decor and go back to themed, original rooms that fully reflect the hotel’s concept. You could be staying anywhere when you look at this. I remember the unique hand carved bunk beds and armoires at the AKL and Wilderness Lodge and the beautiful, colourful soft furnishings and wallpaper. If I wanted boring beige and white they are lots of $100 a night rooms in Orlando to choose from.

I feel like the tower defeats the whole purpose of the older style Polynesian long houses. I’m personally not a fan

I forgot that Polynesia is known for being colorless. Another major fail. All the creative people must be busy at Universal!
